I was 2.5' Cat back with an h-pipe, AP big max turbo mufflers, Performance Curve glasspacks (deletes raspy/rattly sound), and some exhaust shop 3.5" oval tips. I got my mufflers from www.performanc-curve.com It was less than $120 shipped for the mufflers and glasspacks. Anyways if you want to go that route PM me if you want help.
 
Here's my setup...2000 LS, K&N CAI..removed everything from the cats back...Thunderbolt cats..to 2.5 Magna x-pipe..2.5 back to two Magnaflow muffs...had to do the work piece by piece over time..so definitely observed much more horsepower..and deep throaty sound mostly WTO. Original pipe size was only 2.25 very constrictive with the factory resonators. Biggest gain noticed after installing Mlara's hi flow cats..few issues with CEL's..but after replacing both 02 banks no lights. Very annoying how everyone wants to race now..even the cops are having neck seizures..lol. Expensive set up...but well worth it.
 
I can't speak for other brands, but bassani, bassani, bassani. The mufflers alone make the LS sound way better. If I had a camera with a decent mic, I'd make a vid.

I got different reviews using Cherry Bomb's glasspacks, they are cheaper than Bassani or Magnaflow. IMO they still sounded pretty good. I haven't heard one up close though (on an LS) so I can't say if it's really better.
 
Really long glasspacks can sound good. Short ones, not so much. Too much raspy crackle with the short ones but the long ones have a deep, mellow tone.
 
bassani.com or type the part number in google and you might find a deal , mlara was selling his system for a good price idk if he still has it
 
NOTE:

The Bassani's are "directional" exhausts and will not be listed as such.
If you purchase, lets say "Center In/Offset Out" they will need to be installed as such.
Laugh all you want, they are not listed with a stamped marking or anything.

and .... someone on here had them on backwards. :p
