2.25" is not the stock size. I should've taken pics of the before and afters when I redid the piping. Oh well. I have an x pipe on the way right now. I'll make sure I take a pic of the old exhaust pipe next to the 2.25" I'm going to be putting in. The largest the stock gen 1 pipe is is 2". Gen 2 stock exhaust diameter is 2.25". Be careful with going too large a diameter pipe. Too big, and you'll lose torque. You will gain on the top end though.

I was wondering if we actually lost power or is that wit the mufflers deleted it actually makes the car sound faster than it is.. kinda like we were expecting it to be faster because of the sound.. i wish someone had some hard data on this..

i cut my mufflers off (02 v8) and it sounds like junk. it sounds like a really tiered v8 at idle to 3500 ish. but i sounds mean in the upper RPMs.

not to hijack this thread but just after my resonators there it a crossover or H pipe, is that factory?

also is there a o2 simulator out there that works with the LS? i want it to sound really mean. i was thinking cat delete no resonators and 1 chamber flowmasters.

I had stock piping with flowmaster and got magnaflows with 2.5'' pipes with mandrel bends, x-pipe and resonator delete. I gain I think about 8 hp and torque to the wheels according to the before and after dyno runs. Thats on a gen2, gen1 would/should gain more

it cant do much way down stream like that. isn't ideal as close to the headers as possible

imo it's a luxury car... i don't see how a loud exhaust fits into it. maybe i have to see it in person to appreciate it...

You should.. its nothing like pulling off in a LS and have the other cars look like WTF? Its an aquired taste tho.. Personally i put pipes on any car i get with a V8.. I just like the growl. I dont hot rod mine tho.
