I'm new to this site and I would like to what's the ride quality like on the coil spring conversion for a lincoln mark 8 because my air ride suspension is shot to heck! I would like to know about doing a t45 transmission swap to the same vehicle. Any help is GREATLY appriecated!

many will say a functioning, well taken care of air ride is better. I however love the simplicity of coils (mines lowered,no longer made)..I'll never have to worry about the a/r f'n me over again. And its kinda necc now cause its my daily driver.

I would get used front struts from a t-bird (if on a budget) and a m8 rear kit. Not sure what else you could use for the rear though.

idk about the trans either. But i do know that a manual conv isnt that easy.

Buy a 5 speed Mustang.

Bye the time you fix/replace the suspension and do a manual transmission swap...you could have payed $6-7,000 for a decent running stang.

Well I'm not a Mustang Hater ... Love the Stang ...

If you want to put in the time and money ... also make sure you have the skills the 5 speed swap is great ...

As for Air Ride it's whatever you like ... I've (according to a few) destroyed 3 Mark VIIIs to coils, still have one on Air Ride. I like the Air Ride and I also like the coils. It's up to the driver.

i love air ride, but from a cost stand point if a lot of your stock air ride is shot coils will be much cheaper.

If you get good coils (Vogland) and good shocks (Bilstien or Koni Yellows) then you can have a great ride and handeling. I have been in stock height coiled Marks wirh Gabriels and it sucked. Been in one with stock height and Tokicos and it handled great but ride suffered and angled expansion joints on road ways made me sea sick. Been in a lowerd coil conversion with Monroes and was thuroughly unimpressed. Rode in one with lowered coils and Tokico Blues and it handles well but dont like the ride and controll on large dips is lacking.

If you do a coil conversion then braces are a must IMHO to allow the springs to work better. An IRS brace will do wonders!
