lincoln ls tilt/lifted hood

Still new to the crowd but I don't think it's been done. Whether or not it will look good though is a different story.

is it hard to remove a 1st gen lincoln ls hood?

Not much new you can do with the LS, right RollinLS, amazing what you can find with SEARCH.

Both tilt and lamebo doors.

so wait, there are people out there running around with a bunch of washers or spacers between the hood and the hinge?

its just like every other hood out there (except for a rare few), open hood, remove four bolts holding hood to hinges. then sit hood off to side.


edit: you will also need to remove the gas hood props from the hoods as well.
 
if ive said it once, ive said it a thousand times. if you want to know if something is a good ideal or not for an LS, look at the car your trying to get the ideal from, if it is a civic, its probably not a good idea!
 
I don't understand, whats the point of even doing that? I think It would look cheap on an ls but idk, if I seen one like that I would think something was wrong with the hood lol
 
It kind of destroys the aesthetics for me just raising it. If you were going to bend the ends of the hood down and extend them back to the body line, that would look pretty good to me. Like a cowl induction of "Power Buldge" hood.
 
We used to do that as a means to let heat out from the engine compartment 25 years ago on our cars when we took them drag racing. Yup, spacers between the hood hinge and hood. Not sure it's much help on newer cars and the LS wouldn't look right with it.
 
Yep, I would question the motivation for doing something like this as well. I would find it hard to believe that it would be for aesthetics. If it would be for airflow, there would be PLENTY of better ways to increase airflow without doing something like this. Several LS'ers at LVC have done so - QuikLS has put cowl vents in his hood (he has a supercharger), and others have added extensions to their cold air intakes so that it sucks air from the grill's lower vents.

So, if it actually is for aesthetics, I don't see how this would look better but also that this would be subjective. Opinions will vary.
 
its a vertex style thing, people do it with 240's all day, the concept is that the air that goes through the grill has somewhere to exit, i seriously doubt it does anything i never did it to any of my 240's
 
I agree. I am not sure why you would want the look. But for heat extraction, it will work.

I experimented with my cowl in this.
 
That's all a cowl induction hood is. Adding a hump or raising the center of the hood so you get a vaccuum effect from the air cross the windshield. The aesthetics just don't do much for me here. I would rather cut the hood and add an aftermarket cowl if I was going that route.

Humorously enough, the bottom of the windshield is a HIGH pressure area, so cowl INDUCTION hoods actually have air pushed from the windshield into the engine compartment.

Strange but true.

Also, that civic looks godd@mned stupid.

The raised hood just kills the look for me. Looks like a wrecked car that didn't get finished right. *shrug*

Plus with all the gaskets sealing the engine compartment, I am not sure a cowl hood would accomplish much. If I had cooling issues, I'd work on a bigger radiator and/or fan first. If I was still broiling under the hood, then the hood vents would be the way to go. The whole idea behind the cowl was to push cold air down around the carburetor intake and give clearance. A CAI is the better option on an LS.
 
well just wanted to know what you guys think..thanks for the feeed back you guys!!...what is a cheap mod?
