Lincoln LS Gas Mileage

The only way to quiet a 'counsel' is to tape over his, or her, mouth. At 147K miles and change, my '02 doesn't make undue noise from the console. And there's room under the armrest for four boxes of .45 ACP cartridges and a pen. How much more can you ask for?

LMFAO! I'm loving it cammer! I'm starting the paperwork for my permit tonight :)

And to be on topic, my 01 V8 with 135k on it averages 20.5

My 01' v6 gets about 23-24.5MPG no matter how I drive. I have the 5 speed stick though and it spins about 3k RPM at 70. With a 6th gear I could do much better. I have 141k miles.

Sorry I spelled it wrong. My center CONSOLE is very noisy. :D

Currently I'm getting 18-21mpg if I'm lucky. But its going in for coils tomorrow hopefully 7 new motorcrafts and some plugs will gain me some mpgs

I have 152k and counting. In my v8 I average around 15 but it's time for plugs coils and tranny flush w/filter. New filter is on the way so I'm sure that all will help alot but I know it's mostly due to my heavy right foot. Mine is almost all city by the way.

17.8 in the winter up to 20 in the summer and then repeat. V8

My 05 LS with 52k miles really did well on the highway. K&N series 57 intake and that's it. At a 55 mph cruise with ac off, I have hit 31 mpg. more typical 65 mph cruise with AC on I have gotten close to 29.
City is a different story. Stop and go with red lights I would get 10-13, and real NYC midtown traffic with AC on I would get 9.8.

Just got took a road trip with my 2000 V8 Base from Ct to Nc , far from flat roads!
Averaged 28.6 both ways. The car is stock except for Thrush turbo mufflers and has 162k on the clock.

I took a trip "down the shore" as Jersey people insist on calling it. I filled up and reset before leaving. I drove 15 miles on lighted town roads and highway, 25 on 50-60mph roads, got pulled over, hit the parkway for 100 miles, then drove 5 miles to my destination. I parked it with 20.5 mpg for the trip.

I also hit the speed governor 3-4 times :) it was 1am so I had several spots with no other cars visible. Not bad fuel economy.

Staying in town, I get 13. When I did the trip without speeding nearly as much, I parked at 24. Commuting to work 17 miles of town, a little parkway, and traffic light highway, I get 18.

After changing intakes, everything dropped 2-3mpg because now I have a loud pedal and its just too much fun after commuting most days in an old Taurus.

That creaky console drives me crazy, too. The solution is to drive hard enough you need two hands on the wheel and don't lean on the console

Change your fuel filter and air breather element, clean MAF and ensure coils and plugs are up to par. Remove junk in trunk.

haven't taken it on a long trp in a while, prettu much all of the LSs driving it around town and country back roads, rarely over 20 miles total (mostly 10 or so to get to town and back) and the gas pedal may as well just be an off/on switch, because it is either 0% or 100% with very little cruse control after an acceptable cruising speed has been reached.

computer says about 13 and a half, I've done hand calculations before and the computer was within a fraction of the number...

last trip from MI to AL or TN I took was getting about 24 above 80 mph until I got to boring KY where I just had to hammer down and burn up the hills

I have the Escort 8500 x50 (two of them). It does tell you how many radar sources there are, and what band each one is and how strong each one is. I don't really care if it is ahead, behind, or to the side. I get almost no false alarms, so I just slow down when radar is detected.

The arrows saved my bacon when the CHP was running some weird speed trap. Cop #1 passes with #2 still ahead. He then turns around a half mile or so later and starts coming from behind with #2 still ahead. #1 did end up passing me and catching the guy that slowed with me then sped back up after #1 passed opposite direction... I really like the arrows when the radar is behind. In Nebraska pre-V1 my STi Driver alerted for about 5 miles before I saw the cop in my mirror. Couldn't get me for speeding but he did get me for no front plate !

this, it really doesn't matter which direction the cop is in, if they radar you and you are speeding, you are getting a ticket. when your radar goes off, you slow down, you don't take the time to figure out which direction he is in and where he is hiding. also you can easily tell how close or far the source is from the strength and definitely if you in direct line or not.

also the X50 usually goes off a mile or two before you're even there, so if it had arrows, they would always just be pointing up... to me, being able to see that there are three or four DIFFERENT cops up ahead is much more valuable information than which direction it may be in.

if the arrows saved you from getting a ticket vs the Bell STI, then it was because you were ignoring it while it was going off

hell some of the best $1500 top of the line units that I have installed only have one LED and a speaker with no display hooked up at all. they haven't got a ticket...

by paying attention to the strength meter, you can easily tell a signal getting stronger(in front of you), or stronger quicker than normal (coming at you) vs a signal getting slightly stronger and sticking around longer than it should (car behind you following the same direction)

Agreed.

So do you guys have a favorite scanner? STi, Escort 8500, V1?

Arrows AND counter AND strength meter AND band. I just like knowing where to look as well as how many I need to spot. What is getting quite annoying is all the cars with automatic cruise control setting off my "K" band!! Audi's are the WORST!! I did pay attention to the STi, which is why I didn't get a speeding ticket. He got in front of me and looked over and saw I didn't have a front plate. As he was walking up to the car I heard over his radio "California, affirmative." He had me follow him back to his car with the detector. He verified it wasn't a jammer and proceeded to tell me that they don't work anyway. I had to bite my tongue to not say that he didn't catch me for speeding!!!

Having had many detectors since a GUL in the 70's, I prefer my V1. It has served me very well over the last few years and depend on it.

I usually get anywhere from 24-26 mpg on highway, in town honestly I don't know because I don't reset the MPG in town. Averages out to about 20 like most are saying.

2005, V8 with 75k on it...do what's right....buy the v8 :)

Pittsburgh to West Palm back in May. Cruise set on 75, this was the best I was able to record. 2006 V8.
