The DA I've been working on is hard to start if it sits for more than an hour. I think it is running rich on start-up, or maybe there is fuel that leaks from an injector that it has to burn off on the next start-up. That might even explain the misfire if there is a faulty injector. I'm not getting a misfire code now, but I think it still occasionally misfires.

So tomorrow I will check the fuel pressure and see if it holds pressure after shutting it off. I'm not quite sure how to proceed if it doesn't hold pressure. My friend Tim thinks it might be the FPR, but I'm guessing it isn't. I suppose it could be the fuel filter and I don't when, if ever, it was changed, but I think it's rich on start-up, not lean.

If the evidence points towards an injector problem should I try running something like Redline or Techron through it? Maybe another Seafoam treatment? I do have a full set of spare injectors, but how can I identify the bad ones? Stethoscope?

Thanks for any advice. I know I ask a lot of questions and I really appreciate the help and appreciate this forum. Thanks!

As its running, unplug each injector and see if it stubbles a little more or not. After you remove the harness, give it a couple seconds. If theres no change, check injector pulse with a noid light to eliminate an electrical issue

I had a spare FPR so I went ahead and changed that. I checked the fuel pressure and it was steady at 35lbs with the engine running. After shutting it down the pressure dropped 4 lbs in 15 minutes and then dropped to 15lbs in about an hour. I have a fuel filter but haven't installed it yet. First start this morning (before I did anything to it) was very hard. I didn't think I was going to get it running. Since then it has been OK. It seems to hold an idle above 1000 when started too long before coming down. At least compared to my other Mark.

I bought some Techron fuel system cleaner. I'll put that in shortly. I'm tempted to Seafoam it again.

I don't have a noid light.

Fuel filter didn't help. FPR didn't help. Fuel system cleaner hasn't helped yet.

This car also has one of those lifetime air filters on it. The air box has been removed and some cobbled sheet metal thing is in its place. The MAF housing is bolted to it. I have a spare stock air box and I intend to return it to stock and clean the MAF.

Get it breathing right first.. then move on
Thats a good deal on the injectors thou

I bought 'em. Never hurts to have spare injectors and the price is right. I'm pretty sure this car needs them though. Yeah, reman is risky, eBay is risky, stock is better, yada, yada, and all that. They'll either work or they won't.

Make sure you take special care when you do the injectors. Marks tend to burn quick.

+1 use a little lube, vasoline is OK. Just on the seals to help slide them in the holes, or else run the risk of tearing one and them leaking

OK, thanks guys! How about dielectric grease? That's what I usually use on seals. I'm sure I must have vasoline around the house too.

I'll have a fire extinguisher on hand just in case.
