2000 Lincoln LS 96K Miles ive recently noticed that after running my car for about 10-15 minutes my car will beging leaking coolant, its weird because when i replace the lost coolant it dosent seem to be dripping at all i took a drop light and droped it near the coolant reserviour and couldnt find any leaks a friend of mine said that i need to replace the coolant cap because he says that he only notice coolant leaking whenever he removes the cap could this be the problem?

Sounds like a good place to start. They are not expensive. Actually Auto Zone can check your cap for you to see if it is good or not.

a common issue is that the reservoir develops small hair-line cracks in it and leaks. It only does this once warm and up to pressure.

+1. And from my experience, the cracks begin to develop from the inside of the tank, making them almost impossible to spot when you open the hood and look. And no..dont try to patch the crack..the patch wont hold for long under the heat/pressure.

New Degas bottle time.

Change the coolant tank. Just had the EXACT same issue within the last 12 months. There's a post in here somewhere. Max(search for my post) can get the item for around $120. I ended up already buying the item before he dropped me a line and it was $152 locally. Not a drip of a problem since.

Me too.

The fine cracks are out of site and in the back of the tank. Very hard to see unless you take the tank out and inspect it. Crazy price $150 for a new plastic tank. Did I say crazy? Any junk yards around? Try Ebay too.

For this, I wouldnt go used. For something like a control arm..or something non-wear? Sure. But these things are known to go after years and miles of heat/stress. It's an easy job once you remove the drivers side wheel and wheel well liner and access the lower clamp via the holes in the wheel well
