Seems my foot well it really getting hot when I'm idling or going slow, not to bad when i'm at highway speed. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue with kooks headers and if anyone had 'upgraded' their heat shield to block the extra heat from headers.

Headers or cats?

I was a little concerned about extra heat from my aftermarket cats, so here's what I did when I installed mine. And, I haven't noticed any extra heat while driving or racing it.

I used DEI 050502 Floor and Tunnel Heat Shield.

Winner! What size did you use? I'll most likely order it next week.

I gave you the part number that I used.

But you could probably get by with the smaller size, I have a lot left over. It all depends upon how much you want to cover.

i dont have anything on my floor and it doesnt get hot, i've got magnaflow cats a few inches after my kooks also but nothing seems to get any hotter than stock.

Jamie, Black car, I wouldn't think you'd notice any -extra- heat, I would love to have a black/black Gen2...but omg!

this is my second one, its just hot no matter what!! i could leave an egg in a bowl of water and hard boil it while its parked at work i guarantee it!

I just put the black seatcovers back in the chameleon a month ago. Their black and the interior is white. With them out I notice a big difference.

Hey phreak just rivet a whole bunch of beer cans together and make your own shields. :D:D:D

I have black seat covers in mine too, even my light blue gets crazy hot if left in the sun...I put the seat covers on because my blue seat skins are total garbage and I can't find new ones ;-( , found a place that would recover each seat for $550 tho, and $700 for the rear...$20 seat covers wins

Mine are beatiful so I use the seat covers for protection. Recently they have started falling apart, literally:eek::eek:! I even bought the high priced ones from Slowreily's.

trust me I live in Missouri, that suggestion has been made many times even suggestion on what beer cans would be best to complete the job.

I made two guys in my truck slam beers to make a heatshield for my starter wire. I had fried it out in the middle of the night and was on the roadside. In the ozarks. We had some electrical tape and some tools. I pulled it from the truck and wrapped it in tape. Then the beer cans for a heat shield.

We made it to our destination and home again.

You really should come to town to see KK for the meet. You could also meet the kc guys and camp in my front yard for free:D:D. Or make it a day trip. :D:D:D

Sorry bro I'm in NYC till mid to late September then I've got alot of suspension / bushing work to do so I can get it road legal.

Let us know when you hit town again. I have been thinking a St louey meet roadtrip for spring next year. You locals could really help us out.
