ok, mine works fine but my "friends" got ahold of my key (factory code in manual) and wont keep out of her. the manual says there is no way to ever change the default code. is there any way around this? if not what do i buy to change the default code? Thanks

You can actually change the code to whatever you like. I can't remember exactly how but I know you must enter your code first then press another number or two and enter your new code.

The owners manual actual tells you how to do it.

you can change a code, but there is a master code so you can reset it if you ever forget the programmable one. its in the trunk. the master one stays put.

So even tho the code has been changed, the original can be put in and it will still work?

+1 to rayner, that would probably work though changing the module in the trunk is super easy and usually can be found cheaply, though I think you'll need to reprogram your key... ;)

Where is the module located and if I have to get my remote reprogramed how do i do it?

you can also buy a new unit at the ford dealership, all you need is the factory unit such as your to make the change. i looked into putting one of the new unit in my t-bird but could not make that changes do to my aftermarket door lock system. they told me that they can make the new changes if i had an original key entry unit to replace for a new upgrade key pad.so check them out for your last result. boy your friends are wacked! also put a lock on your gas tank, just incase they start playing with your ride?good luck.

The module is in the trunk on the left side right beside the air ride switch. You'll need to pull the push pins off holding the carpet panel and the net holder off that corner to access it. It's only hold on by two (8mm?) bolts and has two plugs in it. It has your existing door code on it.
As for reprogamming the remotes on the first gen I'd have to dig out my manual again but don't have a 32bit system to run the cd on to check, so hopefully someone else can say...

i think its either gonna be cycle the key 8 times and hit a button on each remote (typical ford) or enter the keyless code and hit 1/2 or something, and hit a button on each remote (been a long time) i got a ford cheat sheet at my parents house that i was a t today but prob wont be back there till christmas
