Just picked these up... (pics)

anyone know how much stock 8 spoke weigh? i just weighed the ones i picked up and they weigh 38lbs with tires

I've considered that trust me. But that would be expensive as hell.
Powdercoating is not that expensive.

Have a shop make you some decals. It shouldn't be expensice. Maybe like 20-30 bucks for all four. Thats what I'm doing with the volvo center caps. Going to put some decals on and clear over them.
Get the decals off of eBay for a few dollars.

Yea he was talking about the stock 8 spoke chrome ones. I figured getting those powdercoated would be expensive as hell because I would have to get them de-chromed first.

Getting the others powdercoated won't cost more than the cost of paint since I'm doing them myself.

The dechroming could possibly be done via a chemical stripper or some sort of blasting. Soda blasting might be the finest (I'm not 100% sure), leaving the most potential for a smooth once the finish is taken away.

Aside from powdercoating, if they were painted, the chrome can be prepped to allow paint adhesion. Since some are peeling however, I don't know if that would be ideal.

Started working on them...

cleaned them up today, and they dont look half bad IMO

Making some Progress...

Following Joshmcmadmac's process except for the time intervals, unfortunately i dont have enough time to let the paint cure for a week, i have to finish this week before classes start. So far pretty smooth process.

In the next couple of days: wet sand, second coat of paint, and clear.

They came out a bit darker than i wanted, but maybe they wont look too bad on my white.

thats color looks sick. Nice work

Looks great. Be careful with the wetsanding and you should be able to do it after a 24 hour cure time. Then clean thoroughly and proceed on with painting. You did what looks like an excellent job, and I am glad that my post finally managed to serve its' intended purpose.

Custom center caps

thanks guys, prep work is a pain, but its the most important step IMO.

i think i have the center cap situation resolved:
