So as you guys all have heard, my car was in an accident about a month ago. Well, I was having it fixed, everything was looking great! I ordered my wheels from Brad, which looked great, got my coil spring conversion in and waiting to go on.

So I pick the car up yesterday at around 5:30(they close at 6) and it looks really good. I had given them one of my new wheels to help roll it around because 2 tires were flat and the donut was already on. So I asked them if they would put the other 3 wheels on and they said no problem.. I pay for the whole job and am very excited because the car looked really good!!!

Anyways, i got on the road, about 150 yards down the street from the shop, and the drivers front wheel comes loose!!!!!:eek: So i gimp into a gas station, with the wheel still in the fender well and no lug nuts(the rotor was just riding on the inside of the rim! They Forgot to tighten one of my wheels!!! Nice..

So i sat there for about an hour and they towed it back and told me not to worry about any damage that may have occured and that they would take care of it! Your God D**M right you will!!!

What would you do in a situation like this???

Lawsuit?
 
I'd give them a chance to make it right if they treated you good all along, which it sounds like they did...
 
Being from a Service Writer/ Technician background, I have situations like this before. The key is PATIENCE!!!!!! Don't go flying off the handle cussing at them and other ghetto behavior. I am not saying that you did or will but it's easy to go down that road. Talk with them and see how they handle the situation. Don't try to get them to repair things that were not damaged because of this. I'll give 2 examples on this. One was when I was a ford tech in 94. Just got through with a tune up on a 88 escort. I can remember this like it was yesterday, but anyway, got through with it, test drove it and parked it in the holding area. A few hours later the lady came to get her car, paid for it and left. Got down the road about 10 miles and we got a call with her just about crying about her car. We could't tell what was wrong, but we sent a wrecker. He told us what was going on and we sent a loaner car to her. He hood had came unlatched and hit the windshield. Well to wrap this up, she was nice and understanding and for her trouble we repaired the damage, repainted the whole car, let her use a loaner, and gave her a quarter of her tune up bill back for her trouble. That's the kind of things that happen when you are nice. The other example was that someone in the shop did an oil change on a explorer and didn't remove the old oil filter gasket. It leaked out and locked the motor. the cust. was raising hell, talking lawsuit and all other kinds of bs. We were sued, but ended up paying out about 700 for an engine, much less than what it would have cost for us to replace the engine.

Moral of the story is honey will get more flies than vinegar....

No fun.
Just make them fix it.
Maybe beat a few free oil changes out of them.
 
I agree with rayner...no threats, let them make it right.
The only thing I might add is when you pick the car up go hit an AAA inspection station; then if they find something else you have grounds to start making threats.

Chances are you wont have to "beat" the oil changes out of them...just hint at your concern and deep dissatisfaction with the surprise of loosing a wheel. In this economy nobody wants a pissed off customer, and you will get more flies with honey
 
I would just calmly tell them you want the car back to the exact condition it was before the wheel fell off and have a little patience, I'm sure they will make it right.
 
If some I had work done to my car and the guy that did the work didn'y fully close the hood I hope I would at least get the tune up for free
 
I'd ask for the damages to be fixed and get another wheel. Being the rotor probably tore the hell out of the wheel, and next thing you know its out of balance and looks like :q:q:q:q when its brand new. But be nice when you act like a dick then thats what you will get in return.

PS: I had the same thing happen on my lowered S10 and the shop fixed it and all was good. They even hooked me up working on it for free on a couple of lil things.
 
go back with a gun and smoke everyone who works there.






obviously i am joking, just make them fix it right!
 
Jamie - Not a bad idea, just make sure the care is fixed first...you gotta think about these things, if you somek them before they fix it you dont have a get away vehicle
 
+2 just be calm, shyt happens it just sux when it happens to you. everyone makes mistakes, they should repair all the damage and replace the wheel, if not then you have the right to raise hell.
 
well guys, i havent been on in a while. I just gave them a list and let them know i was not the least bit happy..

They are everything and hopefully i will have a very nice looking car again soon.. Just sucks to wait again!..
 
especially since that was the LAST SET of those wheels that brad had...

If they damaged the wheel, you might get them to kick in the cost of a NEW saleen speedstar wheel, which is gonna be ALOT of money.
 
Jiffy lube still has pits. I saw some clueless lady almost go in. She hit the computer on the side and stopped just before the car went up the floor railing blocking the pit.
There is also a youtube video of a recent drive thru Pit somewhere out there.
 
I'm sure they will take care of you... Lots of good advice here. No lawsuit though... too many sue happy people in this country. Don't exacerbate the problem... :D

True the oil joints still have them.

I havent seen a shop with one for a long time.
