Just Bought ls....small issues.

Ok driving home from work, after i passed a small dip in the road i felt something drop and start dragging on the road.

When i got home, i looked under the bumper and saw the plastic shroud underneath the car came loose from the bumper end. I thought the tranny dropped!!

Is this common with these vehicles? The car also has lots of wear on the front bumper both underneath and the front...rest of the vehicle is in very good condition however.

Also, it makes a sqeuak during startup/idle. My guess is the serpentine belt needs replaced. What else should i look at....vehicle has 63,000 miles, 2006 LS V8.

This is from people driving over those curbs/parking stops where they drag the bumper forward, then park. Then when they leave they back out and it pulled the bumper forward while the car goes backwards. The result is strain on the handful of screws that hold the shroud to the bumper.


You see this a lot with women drivers, they seem to think those parking stops are there for them to run into... they let them know "they're in the spot".


You can drill new holes underneath and put some more bolts in, unless they have fallen out, there should be little metal clips that have a place for the stock bolts to thread into. You can reuse those.

LOL....i think the previous owner was a woman (found a blonde hair in the backseat).


Umm the clips are gone...and it dragged so much that a lot of the plasic is gone too. basically only the ends are intact.

For now i ziptied it back....but its very worn out and rattles a bit. Id like to replace the entire thing, any idea on how much it costs or where to get it??

Best bet is to find one in a bone yard. And a blond hair in the BACK seat won't tell you much! There's no room at all to maneuver in the front seat. The !@#$%$# arm rest is in the way!

Not all women are bad drivers, even with Blonde hair !! I know better then to run over the parking stops, it'll F up my car !!
