In second gens this piece AKA cupholder is not held in with screws it just pops in with clips.

I was pulling the rubber part out of the cupholders to clean it and about had a heart attack when I pulled the whole thing up! I was then relived and continued to take it apart and clean it to my liking. This may be common info but I had no idea.

Exactly, I was actually excited because it makes cleaning the crevices a breeze!

^ I agree. I accidentally pulled on it one day at one corner and have been taking it out to clean it since then.

lol discovered it the same way. Trying to clean it, pulled up on it and it just popped out!

Just be careful when removing it, I broke off one of those 4 tabs. It still holds in place fine but one corner lifts easy.

I pulled mine out once via the cup holder insert and I hurry up and put it back in thinking I broke it lol. I swear mine was held in by some sorta tape though from the previous owner. I didn't hear any of the clips snap.
