you ever just feel screwed no matter what happens. Doesn't matter who runs what who votes for this bill or that bill, we just end up screwed. Everything comes from our pockets, we are real close to giving a full 6 months of our 12 month wages for taxes. Doen't seem to matter what Pres or House or Senate we pay for everything. Every Pres that runs promises this that, always the same song and dance, but it always comes out the same. More out of our pockets. ok had to vent frustration, sitting here trying to get2007 taxes done by extension dead line in Oct. Thanks for the outlet........................

Don't support candidates who support the expansion of the federal government.
It's that simple. If everyone would do that, we wouldn't be having these problems.

Like Bush? What about the war....that's a bit of a drain on your resources, no?

National Security and foreign policy are roles the federal government are supposed to be responsible for.

And, say what you will, but Bush cut taxes, which is clearly one of the concerns of Jhar.

But it's not about electing ONE guy who's interested in shrinking government, or in Bush's case one guy who's kindof interested in it, it's about doing it across the board, in the House and the Congress too.

Are you trying to argue that we should vote for people who want to expand the federal government if we want to see taxes and government intervention decrease? If so, that'd be awfully stupid.

No...I'm not saying any of that...I just remember under Bush government (and spending and deficit) has expanded.

Hey...yes..Long time. I only come here infrequently. I still have the monster Supra...more monstrous than before. Single turbo now. 512 RWHP on pump and low boost. Tons of fun!!! What's new with you???

Hey, jhar, gonna hijack your thread a bit. Hope you don't mind.

Ron, things are good here, thanks. Let me ask you a question about this election from a Canadian's point of view. I know you're anti-Bush, but what's your take on McCain and Obama? What do you see as their strong points and weak points?

No...I'm not saying any of that...I just remember under Bush government (and spending and deficit) has expanded.

So we need to elect people who are MORE fiscally responsible and interested in limited government than Bush. And more importantly, we need to elect Congressman who feel the same way, since they spend the money.

Ok..for the record. I wasn't anti-Bush until all the stupid $hit he did post 9/11. I never thought he was terribly bright, but never disliked him until after 9/11.

Ok..on to your question.

Well, Mcain isn't well loved here. People generally refer to his as "McSame", because they feel he is much the same as Bush, especially with wanting to stay the course in Iraq. Canadian are pretty outraged that approx. 100 Canadians have died in Afghanistan, so it boggles the mind that given the casualties you've taken in Iraq you'd want to stay the course. He's also seen as "too old", although personally it's not an issue for me. He choice of Palin has been regarded as somewhat of a joke...like he was grasping for the Hillary-lovers who may have been put off by her losing the nomination. The big thing about Obama was "lack of experience" and here's Palin..who has less experience in governing people/running a gov't than our mayor in Toronto...(which isn't much!!)

Obama is better liked here, and the preferred candidate. The one thing that's strange here is his skin color isn't often a topic..either for or against him, whereas his race is often mentioned in US papers. Occasionally his age is referred to as a "negative" (lack of experience). Oddly, we've also had Obama rallies here, which I don't recall in any other presidential race. In various cities to boot. People had joked that if Hillary were his running mate, she might try to poison him. LOL Biden has flown a bit under the radar here. Not much has been said for or against him in our media. So it would seem Obama is the preferred candidate.

For me? Neither seems the ideal. But I'd lean towards Obama.

We are in the process of an election that was hastily called here...Oct. 14. Our PM isn't terribly loved here ATM. Though he may get back in since the other candidates are crap-tastic.

Nothing new on your end?? **Edit..I'm in chat if you want to come and chit-chat!! **

seems to me everytime taxes are cut that gives the green lite to everything else to go up 10%, utilities, food, etc.

I'm pretty sure that's just coincidence. There are a lot of things factoring in to prices and cost of living right now - taxes would actually be a reducing factor. So you could probably safely presume that prices would be worse without the tax cuts.

Sorry, Ron, I crashed on you. Your take on our election was pretty much what I expected, thanks. I'll PM you.
