Hey guys, I'm greatly debating going and picking this car up. My plans for it would be to replace the hood and headlight assembly, fix the fender and rear quarter panel, then plastidip the whole car. I figure I'd have no more than $2000 into it altogether.

Now I'd expect similar maintenance as the current LS I drive, but other than that... is there anything anybody knows about these cars that would be advisable for me to avoid it? Or is there anything I should look for when I check it out before handing the cash over?

my mechanic owned one of these and he said the timing chain on these cars are awful and costly to repair , he ended up trashing his

It's the same as a Ford Mondeo with no relation at all to the LS or S-Type......

I'm aware that it has no relation, my comment pertaining to maintenance was simply it being a jaguar/ford. But the timing chain is enough to scare me away. Thanks guys

if you google the reliability on the x type its not bad , but the lemons out there will cost you, I guess its like any car , some have minor flaws and some have major flaws, save the money you were going to use on the x type and put it in your LS or save it for repairs(lets hope not)

LOL put it in my LS.

I can con my wife into letting me get the x type because I flip cars here and there when I find good deals. However, I can't con her into letting me get new rims because my current ones are no longer appealing. And I can't con her into a new exhaust because my current one isn't loud.

I suppose I really need to figure this wife s*** out lol.

hahah take a few hundred of that money and get her something nice and that should give you the okay hahahah
