Guys,

I am getting rid of the LS. Last month I had to get the oil pan gasket replaced (around 800 bucks), and I also replaced the rotors and brake pads. Well I just took it in for an oil change and what I had feared finally happened. My suspension is shot. Here is the list of things I need to replace.

Both upper and lower ball joints.
2 tie rods
sway bar links
read tie rods
rear upper ball joints
rear sway bar links

So I am just going to trade it in before it becomes a money pit. Anyways I am sorry to say good bye to the community and I have always appreciated your feed back. I will be selling some extra parts I have on here within the next few days after I trade in the car. So please keep an eye out.

No idea what I am going to get but I will let you know either way.

thanks

LLOYD

That is too bad.

Those things aren't that bad. And for a gen1 especially easyto find.

Good luck!

Any vehicle is gonna need routine maintenance.

Id rather spend money on something thats paid off versus having a car payment. After mine is paid off i dont plan on getting another for awhile.

Honestly is there anything out there right now thats better??

Everything i looked at was 20K and up.

You wont find an American vehicle with the same features for under 20K besides it.

I have to agree.

But If your not happy with the car anymore move on but brakes and suspension parts are wear items on any car.

I got mine a month ago from a dealership. They wanted 7000, I gave 6. It had 58000 original miles. If it blew up today, I would rebuild the engine. No way would I buy a new car.

2004 Lincoln LS V8 6000.00
Major tune up 300.00
No car payment Priceless

Wow... That is a great deal.

When did you pay this?

Man....thats a good deal.

I paid $11,800 but being an 06 it was a good deal. All the other ones i see arent ultimates and they want 13K-14K for.

I paid 8K for my 2000.

And I'm with the others on this one, lloyd. the parts you listed are standard maintenance items. I would just get the parts replaced. Just don't let the dealership do it. Have an independent shop that you trust perform the work. Better pricing.

It sucks that you let her go. Good luck with your new ride, just remember every car needs maintenance, every car.

A couple of thoughts---

I believe you were very badly treated if you paid $800 for a pan gasket. I've never bought a pan gasket for an AJ engine, but if I were to find out that it cost as much as $20, I'd simply use 'Right Stuff'---you can buy a whole aerosol can for about $15. The pan area under the car is not impossible to access, and if it were to be necessary to R&R the engine for room to work, it should still cost less than $800. If you're only talking about the sheet-metal stamping, it's even a worse rip-off.

Who says you need that much suspension work? I have a little less than 147K on my '02 and I am in the beginning stages of needing a set of front sway-bar bushings. And I'll be changing the shocks between now and spring. Is it possible that the same thinking that produced the $800 bill for a gasket also suggested the list of suspension items above?

At least it's something to think about!!!
