So this guy at work has a 2000 Chevy 3500(the big one) with a 327 in it. Well this morning he said he wanted to race my Lincoln, I'm thinking that this would be way to easy. So should I take him?!

My buddy has a 1500 with the 327 v8 with 22 inch wheels and out runs stock stangs all the time.

Yeah pretty much, except he's an out right prick. The other guy at work, who has a similar truck said he would proably take me off the line, after third gear the truck would be toast.

The 3500 is a 1 ton, whats the curb# compared to the 1500 1/2 ton?

A regular cab 2wd chevy 3500 weighs 5600lbs. If its a crew cab 4wd that goes up to 6500lbs. But the 3500 never came with the 5.3, it was either the 6.0, the 8.1, or the 6.6 diesel. If it has a 5.3, then it has to be a 2500, which is 1000lbs lighter, rated at 300hp, and if it is a regular cab 2wd, it might take you. Or if its an 8.1 3500 he might take you. If it is a 6.0 3500 you'll pull away from him hard though, especially if it isn't a bare bones 2wd regular cab.

If it's a 2000 model(3500), that truck didn't come with any of those engines, they showed up in 2001. The 2000 model came with the 5.7(255hp/330tq) or the 7.4(290hp/410tq).
In my opinion, you would have no problem with either(the 7.4 might have some grunt off the line though).

I have an 07 silverado 1500 with the 327 5.3L and either one of my marks will smoke it with out a question. Bet the guy $100 and if he says no commence to calling him a pussy.

My brother had an 01' Tahoe 5.3. It felt pretty powerful and was reliable. One day, we raced a 6.0 Ford diesel, and got destroyed(5 car lengths by 55mph). That's as far I'll go on the street, too dangerous. Truck could have been chipped, who knows?

My friend has the '07 gmc diesel crew cab and it rocks. 14's all day stock. 12 if he does exhaust and tunes it,nothing else. Smokes my neighbors dodge with all the bully dog stuff. Those new chevys are nasty. I can't wait to see what it does when he starts tinkerin'.

I'd venture to guess you'll be able to take a 5.3 truck.
My aunt has a 5.3 Tahoe, runs pretty consistent 15.9s (close to sea level, not here in Albuquerque.)

Yah... I was just going to say the 327 was made from 1962ish to about 1970? The 5.3 Vortech is technically a 325, and was not found in the 2000 model year trucks. It's a 350 or a 454.

my boss just bought a left over 08 silverado 4x4 2500 with a duramax and allison trans i drove the truck and hammered on it leaving our shop without a doubt from light to light it would smoke the piss out of my mark VIII the thing is bad ass for a stocker.

New diesels are no joke. Had a similar experience in an 07' Dmax Dually. We also pulled a 14,000lb backhoe with it, could hardly tell it was there.

i wish i had pics lol my boss bought the 2500 x-cab HD and my shop foreman has an 05 3500 4 door duramax dually i have driven that too that truck would pull a hospital off its foundation without even breaking traction lmao the truck is a brute.
