Is this the correct VSS gear for my 4.30's?

I guess I was thrown off by the 65-73 mustang category at the top so I had to ask. Thanks for the info!

Put the stock VSS gear in it and get a SpeedCal. ;)

Well I was thinking of doing the gear for now because im planning a tune in the spring. So correct me if im dumb but when I get a tune he can correct my shift points then right? So a speed cal would be a waste if im planning a tune?

ECM goes off the RPM's and what it "thinks" (programmed) is the rear gear in your car. It doesn't have anything to do with the speedometer. The tune will fix things like the speed limiter (which will kick in much lower with the numerically high gear you have) because the ECM doesn't know the correct gear ratio you have in the back, however.

Correct my speedo is good.

Also correct all i got is 98 MPH! Ive been in a few scuffles and I take em for a bit but then... CURSES!

I guess the biggest issue im trying to correct is the shift points. If im under 50% throttle from a stop, i drop the 1-2 in 20 ft. that sux

I know I can shift manually and I do but there are times, not often, that I dont want my 1-2 to lay rubber.

Same speedo gear I have on my Gen2. The tuner made about a 5% change in the tune when I went from 4.10s to 4.30s and retained the same 23-tooth black gear. The nice thing about Gen2s as you have noticed is that our speedos are always accurate no matter what rear gear we have. The funkiness comes when the tune has not been corrected for it and/or the wrong speedo gear is being used. I have heard that typically a 2 step change in the rear gear without addressing tuning or proper speedo gear will cause driveability concerns. And as stated, the black 23-tooth is the closest you're going to get. I have considered the SpeedCal and going back to the stock speedo gear just because the stock one is so much more durable. The 23-tooth has very thin teeth.

The speedometer doesn't change on Gen2's? That's pretty kewl. It must go off the wheel sensors, huh? "I did not know that!" <- in my best Johnny Carson voice.....
