I had a coolant leak. I think I fixed it and topped off the coolant but now there is coolant all over my engine. Whenever I start the car within 20 secs it begins to smoke. Please help thanks

The coolant all over your engine...is that from you spilling it while refilling the car? If so, that's just excess that'll burn off eventually.

If it's not from you spilling it, you've got other issues.

yes if theres coolant spilled on the engine, the smoke is it evaporating because of the heat from the engine. like nyc asked, did you spill coolant or was it from your problem before the repair? if not, i would assume youve still got a leak.

no, the leak has been taken care of. however there is still coolant all over the engine. so your saying that is ok?

Wipe it up as best you can and let the rest burn off. Get as much off of the alternator, COPs and anything else electrical and you should be fine.

your resovior might be blown, when i bought my car, for some reason my cooling fan was unlpugged and my car would overheat real fast...the temp would rise faster everytime i drove the car...until my resovoir blew up and i could barely make it to the dealership...does it overheat too?...but it is possible that your resovoir could be cracked...possibly a hose tho, that would be a cheaper fix if it is...
