Ipod

Helps if you state what year you have too and if it's an 03+ if it has nav or not because that come into play. But yeah, just type in ipod interface. Took me forever to find it because I didn't know it about the "interface" part.

Adding to Alax's post. Post what the factory stereo is too, if that's what you're using. I looked for awhile, but couldn't find an interface that works with the 6 disc.

What year?

I recently installed an zune interface in my mom's expedition. It's a 99 and has the cd changer in the arm rest. You have to press CD to activate the interface. When I tried it out, both the zune and the cd player played but the zune was really quiet. I had to disconnect to CD player in order for the zune to only play and for it's full sound to be on. I guess this is why in dash CD players dont work, the cd player can't be disconected and can't me made not to play with the interface. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my take on it.

LS4me mine is an 01. I looked at a few in the stores and the boxes all said will not work with 6 disc changer. I bought an aftermarket stereo and ipod adaptor.

I have a 02 V8 with the Alpine in-dash 6-disc changer. I used the FRDN/PC-POD2 from P.I.E (purchased through ShipSound.com) and it worked great.

They did ship it to me without the main electronics box, but were quick to send one once I informed them it was missing. I have no complaints at all with them, or the unit.

One thing the instructions doesn't explicitly state, although the wiring diagram infers it, is that you need to provide 12V unswitched power to the electronics box. I took mine from the cigarette lighter wiring, and squished the box in behind the stereo, into a little area above the glove box.

I then routed the ipod cord under the center console and drilled a small hole into the arm rest box. The ipod now sits in the box, and you can switch songs through the steering wheel or stereo buttons.

HTH,

dammit pete, i told you to stop using those pictures, and go and take some after you cleaned up the car :D and next time tell the hooker to get the coke up her nose and not all over your dash

Do a search, this has been covered a few times.

I got a unit from icarkits.com. It works great. Steering wheel controls and everything. It is compatible with all ipods and my iPhone. I have a 2000 with the in-dash 6 disk changer. Since I hooked up my iPhone I never use the changer anymore anyway.

if it does work, it looks like you would probably lose your steering wheel controls since you would need to have that harness (the factory harness with the resistance wire) unplugged, so that you can plug in the ipod interface.

you may however be able to pull out the resistance wire from the factory harness and place it into the ipod adapter's harness to retain the steering wheel controls. this is of course all just speculation.
