Switched back to air ride..... Replaced all of the parts in the system that I know of ......Only used new or used parts IE: New bags, new NOS air suspension module, 45K air compressor, used height sensors (3), new relays and many other parts in the system......My problem: Had more than one repair shop tell me they couldn't find any thing wrong....But the light still comes on.... There doesn't seem to be ANYONE familiar with the system so your my last resort. Does anyone know of someone I can trust who has the knowledge to check this out?...... I live in the greater Cleveland area but I'm willing to travel within a reasonable distance.....BTW I have the Ford Star module to do the check with if that will help....... Bruce L. It's an old car and it's up to you to repair it. No shop has any interest in a 25+ year old car.
As posted above always start with the codes and go from there.
Can you DIY this? Who replaced all the parts?

Thank you both for your response. I have used the Ford Star tester, accordingly the tests are good by the mechanic who did the test. All the parts were replaced by an auto repair shop.....Removed and replaced, no leaks,,no codes . I fully understand the age of my car and the difficulty someone would have working on it. As I'm 85 yo and can no longer crawl around underneath the car and I have to rely on someone do the maintenance. Someone I can trust. The operative word is TRUST. The other word is "Take advantage of". I think the problem I have is the system will not vent. Bruce L. Hansen.....Senior Citizen.....Alive by the grace and mercy of GOD

So it just randomly says check air ride?
I drove the car Monday. Put over 100 miles on the car and the light came on once....I don't know what I'm going to do as the system is really stiff and doesn't feel like it's functioning properly..... Bruce L. Hansen.....Senior Citizen......Alive by the grace and mercy of GOD

Sounds over inflated
You can adjust the hight with the super star II tester using the audio tone to get it correct and when you do this you may have one the tone wont change and is a bad hight sensor

Thanks again slowmkviii. I'll see about running the Star test again, I too think there is a possibility of a bad sensor.....Don't really want to pop $180+ for NOS but if I need to do this I will.....Question: Lincoln calls for 1 part number for both front sensors and a different 1 for the rear....I've read where the front sensor p/n can be used in the rear also. If this is the case then why the separate p/n for the rear....And should I use the rear p/n....I am leaning towards the rear p/n for the rear ....I'll leave this up for discussion. Bruce L. I really, really need the discussion on the different part numbers for the height sensors......If all 3 sensors can be the p/n for the front height sensors why's ford calling for a different p/n for the REAR? I did run the system check with the Star tester.....The only code it showed is 99......Please?

Ok after a little more checking the code is 99. Looking at the error code chart there was no PPT designation (K) or L or P or Q. Would the PPT help narrow down the area of trouble?.......Bruce L. Hansen.....Senior Citizen..... Alive by the Grace and Mercy of GOD

I've always understood the rear height sensor was different from the fronts.

Quote from the shop manual:

NOTE: The same air suspension height sensor is used at both the LH front and the RH front

locations. The rear air suspension height sensor is different from the front air suspension height

sensor.

Thanks slowmkviii and diller for the info.....So I'm going to go under the assumption that the height sensors are NOT working properly.....Unless someone doesn't think I should I going to try to find OEM sensors especially the Ford part number for the rear.....Don't want to pay the price......but I will to get the system working properly.....Bruce L.
