I painted over my fake wood with a base coat, clear coat. Its all blacked out now.
So now its black on black on black!

Chris,
Can I ,(did you), paint the "rubber coated" pieces too ?
I know a few who had done this , but stripped the coating first.
I'm wondering if I can paint on top of the coating.

You can if you want, but it will not last long......IF it sticks, it will only last a few weeks. The minute you touch it it will flake off. Even if you mix the paint with the same stuff you have to use when you paint a urethane bumper cover (forget the actual name of the ingredient???), it still will not last long. Your best bet is to remove the coating and paint the actual plastic underneath.

Does anyone have any idea where to get a kit like that? That's exactly what I would like to do to mine or have the brushed aluminum look instead. One of the two.

New guy here. Here's a few shots of my interior with the brushed aluminum look. The center console is layed over the factory wood paneling. As you can see, you can hardly tell it was anything but the aftermarket kit.

EDIT- Tried to post the pics but they were too big. You can see them at

Forgot to add that you can order at http://www.customautotrim.com/index.html

Sale is on again and they offer free shipping. Took about 3 weeks for the kit to arrive.
