So I have the True-Rev Sport Induction, for the 2006 Lincoln LS.

Now I've heard people talking about putting a heat shield around it. A few questions.

1) Does it really matter?

2) Are there any specific one's you'd recommend?

3) Can someone shovel my driveway, just snowed. :shifty:

You can make a heatshield or do what im doing.

sell it and buy the k&n.

From what i gather it does matter.

I think I'm going to go after a heat shield if the consensus is that it's better. I also wonder if using a tune, to make the engine fan come on early in temperature, might help.

Cold air = Dense air = better combustion..

Yes it matters.. You can buy some aluminum at like Home Depot or Lowes to make it out of..

You can also buy some tubing and run the intake further down next to the radiator.

Go to your local hardware store ask them for roof flashing made of plastic for a vent pipe. The texture of the plastic is very close to OEM finish. Make the center hole larger to fit and cut the shape to match the frame, fenderwell and radiator to fit. Take your time and cut a little at a time to get it right.

I also have an SCT Tuner. After the intake is installed, should I run the tuner again? Can I get it to recognize the new intake?

nope.

all you are doing is allow more air to travel into the engine. it will compensate.

Cool. I adjust spark plugs on the tune, and the engine fan...anything else I'm missing for better performance, or should check to make sure its there?

For performance all you can really do with the LS is intake, exhaust, gears and torque converter.

you already have a tune so just make sure you use high octane and everything is replaced when needed.

A Little Knowledge Is Dangerous

For performance all you can really do with the LS is intake, exhaust, gears and torque converter.

Plus, of course, you can use aftermarket coils. And if you get serious you can go to a nitrous oxide spray package, relying on gasoline for fuel or adding methanol or one of the other alcohols. And you can install a roots-type supercharger as Quik has done or use a turbo, or two turbos as some have. You can also go inside the engine and apply all of the standard 'hot-rod' tricks that have been used for the past hundred years (almost). So there isn't much that's possible.:D

if you are doing it in toronto, one thing is guaranteed: i'll be a low budget job. too many restrictions and you won't pass the e-test.

you can argue all you want about knowing how to beat it, and having friends that can pass you... but at the end of the day- it probably won't happen.

On my SCT Tuner it gives the option AIRBOX. It then asks me if I'm running a stock airflow or a Typhoon one.

I have neither, but I will have the KKM one....should I just leave the option on STOCK or should I select the Typhoon (even though I wont have the Typhoon)?
