I have a SCT tune in my vehicle, and when I check for codes P1000 is always present. Anyone know if it will still pass in NYS with that there??? There is no check engine light on.

If not I guess I would need to turn it back to stock and do the drive cycle so it would pass.

I could have the inspection done by someone, but if it will pass locally I would rather just do that than do a 30 mile drive with $9.00 worth of tolls???

how long have you been getting the P1000? Thats the code for not finishing the diag process. Should have gone away unless maybe your tuner turned off the diag some how.... idk. just seems wierd

No one scans for inspection. At least I never had anyone scan.

never had to get my checked... my car was from arizona and all they did was just check the vin and a few other things on the door and that was it... about 3-5 min and I was outta there...

they do scan for completed emission loop in Texas. as Tom said - P1000 usually means the loop has not completed. Does your tune block anything - EGR, cats....etc?

Wow, I never saw anyone ever scan my car. Do they do it in NJ?

There is no check engine light

As long as the CEL is not on then you should have no problem passing the inspection. If you fail then you have 60 miles to clear the computer and try again.

that is a little over-simplified.

In Texas we are allowed 2 sensors at 'not-ready' status - anymore and you fail. The trick is that is you have any sensor in 'not-ready' then you will also have the EVAC system in 'not-ready' since all other tests have to pass before it does - so you really only get one sensor at a 'not-ready' status.

If you have any sensor that reports a problem - you fail.

If any of the sensors are in a 'not ready' status - then you will also have the P1000 - since you have not completed a total emissions loop.

The LS has a complicated emission drive cycle loop - attached

The P1000 is always been there, so I am not sure if in the tune Torrie did something which would cause it to stay on. They do plug into OBD cars here, and if the Readiness is not set it will not pass. So I guess that is the answer for me :)

no - like in my post - the P1000 will not fail you - but it is a sign that you have at least one sensor in a 'not ready' status (may be more). how many you are allowed is depending on your state.

if you return it to stock - remember that you'll need to go through a complete emission drive cycle to erase the P1000 (which is tripped every time you erase your PCM or disconnect your battery).

Some states do fail for a P1000, Mass will fail you for it. I think NH is starting to do the plug thing and ANY codes cause a fail

FYI, I went for my inspection the other day and it passed, even though the P1000 code is there for readiness, I did not even have to pay someone a little extra if you know what I mean :) Anyway, that is in NY, not sure if it will pass also in other states like that.

Pisses me off! Grr, was it only one non complete? I just got 3 getting my emissions done for PA and Im pissed! I honestly never dealt with this crap before.

Its crap, I try to let the car sit over the winter so I dont abuse it and I try to let the battery go being disconnected and this is what happens.

Now I have to tear around drawing attention in State Cop territory and hope I dont get snagged for a bad sticker!

i have to get mines done for IL but this damn airbag light started coming on the other day so i'm going to check under the seat and the clock spring like the threads were saying, and soon before they suspend my license.

With the SCT tune that is in my car I have always had the P1000, that is the only code that comes up, and alwys comes up. I was gonna turn it back to stock and drive it a few days to have the readiness set if it did not pass on it's own, but thankfully it did.

Ahhh, I see. Well I did enough driving last night so hopefully I'll be in the clear now.

Hey Sully,
P1000 will now fail you on SI's in NH!
