Getting closer..should be in clear and done by tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to put the bumpers on this weekend.

Looking forward to ditching the fading chrome moulding and stupid license bracket hole plugs!

Hood was cracked at the very edge, so I had them repair and repaint it also.

I hope that the shade comes out dead nuts, and I am not saying that sarcasticly.

It is going to look awesome!!!

Awesome keep posting pictures.

Luke

Will do as soon as I get the car back..I'll have to wait until saturday to remove the old bumpers and put the new ones on..I opted to save a few bucks to do it myself, but he said he would put the trim on for me..so I'll be rolling around for a few days with LSC moulding and base bumpers lol..

Yeah, I was adamant about making sure the painter matched the color as best as possible before he shot in on the bumpers since they aren't blending into the fenders or 1/4s..they told me they have a special light that is supposed to mimick the UV rays of the sun to get a good match..the hood however was just repaired at the edge and a small amount of color was used and partially blended outward..so that should match fine. Putting the bumpers on myself should be fun, I'm going to be paranoid about scratching anything lol.

Cool, have to give us some before and after pics :D

Paul, do you still have the moldings and bumpers for sale? I've been making some $$ and putting it on the side, if the price is right i might see if i can buy them from you

Ha, oh man, I hate prepping cars for paint. I just started as a prepper, been for about a month and a half, haven't taped off many cars, but wow, so much to do, and sanding?!?! Oh my, it's not what everybody thinks lol. 3M yellow masking? Booo, go green! ^_^

too late LOL..the bumpers he had have been sold and are now green.

Didn't even know your hood needed paint! Lookin forward to the end results. Please post pics.

the damage was minimal, the original owner bumped something, bent the chrome trim, cracked the fiberglass hood at the edge, and cracked the plastic grille behind the trim, I just touched up the paint that was chipped which solved the problem temporarily.

i think you can barely make out what it looked like before i did anything to it..this is the day after i bought it, just got finished cleaning it here..

Got the car back today, the body shop did an awsome job matching the paint, really can't tell the difference in the afternoon sun at all, the moulding blends right in with the doors and 1/4s and the shop owner told me they shot almost the whole hood with color to get rid of the few rock chips here and there, and I can't tell the difference from the top of the fenders to the edges of the hood, also now you can't see the spots where the top and bottom of the hood was bonded together anymore..so all in all very happy..AND it was over $300 less that he originaly quoted me :D

I actually don't mind how it looks with just the side moulding on..thought it was going to look stupid for the few days i'll have to drive around with it like this.

I love it... Mine are currently in the works for both of my cars! I just painted my prairie tan moldings myself. Those bumpers look sick.

On your 93, even putting on just the mouldings will change the look of it big time.

give it a couple months and it will be second nature to you and you will fly threw it with out even thinking.

What did all this painting run you. I need the exact amount of paint work that you just did. Hood and front and rear bumpers.

Well it wasn't cheap..but I went to a higher end body shop where I knew the owner and knew they would do a good job prepping and matching the paint. I got two quotes both were somewhat similar. I was originally quoted $1800 but it ended up being $1500 and some change, but I also had the hood painted so that was an extra 3-400. The bumpers and moulding would have been around $1100. I sanded the bumpers and trim myself, but the front bumper had a crack at the bottom edge that needed fixed and also I had them fill in the license plate bracket holes, so that was a little bit extra in labor.

I could never justify spending that much on paint work that didn't involve an entire car.

But i'm sure it'll look great. :)

I understand your point. However, Kevin has a real nice low mileage car without a car payment. It will look practically brand new. I don,t think he is going to drive that beauty in bad weather. It will complete the car and stay looking like new. Just remember, cheap aint good and good aint cheap!

I completely understand. Just saying i'd never do it.

P.s. I'm a jew.

Looks good.

I could see being able to justify spending that much on a car you plan to keep. Selling it you would never get that money back. And 70K miles? Thats awesome.

My LS has 75K miles on it and its 11 years newer. This is the kind of care a Lincoln deserves. I had my front and rear bumpers resprayed for a little over $800 and the match was decent but you can tell it isnt original in the sun. Now getting the passenger fender sprayed because of fender bender i had.

But i would love to strip the entire car and have it shot in tuxedo black, which comes on the new navigators i believe. But i dont have $5K to spend on paint.

Yeah I knew it wasn't going to be cheap, but the way I look at it is I'm still WAY under new or newer car value..I originally bought this car as a cheap replacement for my old car that was totaled, so I'm not worried about spending some money on it here and there..so what, I have more in it than its worth but then again nearly everyone on here is in that same boat the second you spend a dime on your mark viii. I plan on buying a second car sometime soon and keeping the mark as a 2nd car for a long time so I don't mind.
