Howdy,

Is the IMRC system PCM or secondary stand alone computer controlled? I'm theorizing the possibly construction of a DOHC 2003+ Town Car using the Mk VIII motor since I hear the IMRC system helps creat better low end torque than the later 'C' port heads and these engines are far more available than the 'C' headed engines. If they aren't a stand alone module can a Panther computer be made to run one of these motors?

Thanks,

IMRC system is PCM controlled.
However, it's very easy to implement a simple window switch with a tach driver to make it stand alone.

Screw the IMRC's. Go with Terminator heads and an 01 Cobra/ Marauder intake. Plenty of low-end torque with that...

What's a panther computer? And yes, dropping in a new engine with a decent intake is probably going to be better, trust me.

Panther is the FoMoCo internal terminalogy for the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car platform. I do see you have a MkVIII with a transplanted Marauder "Terminator" engine vs the original IMRC motor. How is your difference in economy and such though I doubt you did it for mileage reasons.

Thanks,

If I did it for milage reasons, well, I would have shot myself for doing this. Actually I get about 14 around town and 26 highway. Thats a drop from 18 in town and 30 highway. Keep in mind though, I am in no way tuned or chipped yet so that alone kills my economy plus I still have stock MAF and filter. Once I get chipped, a bigger MAF and a conical filter I should be better but I don't expect anything too great.

we used a msd switch for the dohc tbird swap and it works perfectlly, and easy as hell to install, sorry not sure on what switch it was tho, if midwestbird sees this he will chime, if not ill post it tomorrow maby even some finished bird pics (ive been lazy)
