my car just never stops having problems.. it sounds like my car is misfiring at idle..i replaced the spark plugs and wires at the end of last summer. its not stuttering when i take off but if i accelerate slowly i can feel it misfire here and there. but when i take off pretty fast with it it doesnt feel like its misfiring at all..any suggestions to what the problem could be?

Clean maf (sensor showing thru the maf tube ) with some electrical part cleaner

IAC and TPS should set you straight. Have fun with those two parts because neither are easy to do but do the IAC while the throttle body is off and it's even easier with the hood off.

rockauto.com has OEM parts or one of them is or to the right side of the screen, call Maxx. If you can deal with it for a few more days, they will come in the mail unless you decide to go to AZ and buy them.

Also, what was said above. Buy MAF cleaner!

im not to car literate so i dont know what iac or tps stand for..i cleaned the sensor and that didnt really help..btw when i changed my spark plugs, two plugs on the driver side of the motor were covered with oil..could that have something to do with the problem?

It could but not normally. IAC is (Idle Air Control) and the TPS is (Throttle Position Sensor) and for both will be around the $100 range. Fix the oil leak though. My 94 was like that when I first bought it but my next plug change, there was no oil there that time or the next time.

Both parts that you need to change are at the very back of the engine. IAC is just to the left of the throttle body, kinda down low and the TPS is on the back of the throttle body.

What, specifically would you have to do to fix the oil leak? What parts do you need? What is involved?

My engine is having a similar problem and the IAC was replaced a couple years back...

Hi

If you can wait til monday I can get those for you. the TPS is a DY973 and retails for $74.44 and cost you 41.38; the IAC is a CX1649 and retails for 107.38 and cost you 66.30 and the gasket for the valve is a CG758 at an addional 6.00 all are available for shipping on monday plus shipping.
I am doing this from home til monday so the part number are Motorcraft in the catalog I have home acess to.
thank you

You would need the valve cover gaskets and the spark plug "O" rings....if the oil is on the outer part of the plug and boot. This type of oil leak can eventually cause a coil to short out and mis fire or ruin the coil.

You want to make sure you also don't have a faulty EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valve, this will cause exhaust gases to dilute the air fuel mixture causing the same type of miss fire you are encountering.
