idle at startup.....

my 00 V6 revs high at startup and then decreases to normal. anyone know what this could be ?

I thought most EFI motors did that. Especially if cold. How high does it go?

Mine goes to about 1500

mine also goes to 1500 then I wait for it to get to 1000 before I put it in drive or reverse.

yes - this is normal - I believe is has something to do with the heated O2 sensors and giving the car more rpms on purpose until all the sensors weight in on their current state so the various things can adjust to maintain a lower idle.

just never noticed it before i had maintenance performed. Maybe just the cold weather. Thanks guys

+1 usually first start in the morning it takes longer to drop from 1500 to 1000. then i go to class and then start it up an it takes less time
so i agree with quik.
