We are looking for some fun Ideas for Midwest Local meets.

I've been searching the Midwest area for tracks to either run our cars for time slips or just have fun watching races.

What I've been throwing around in my head is to find a Midwest race track either for Stock or Drag racing (my idea local stuff not national races that may cost too much or make the meet costly).

Hear is my more of the idea. I don't know how many of you like camping but I know many of you do camp. I thought we could find a campground within a few mile of the track and get a few sights or a group site. Those who want to camp can come and camp. We could do the fire thing and have a great time around the campfire. Others could stay at area motels and hang out with the rest. Detail will follow once we know what, where and when.

I'm thinking of June or July for this.

Right Now I want imput from the membership - what do you think and who would be willing to come. Also how far are you willing to travel for something like this.

I do have a cousin who races indy style cars at Road America in Wisconsin http://www.roadamerica.com/2004/media/ I might be able to get us in the pit crew as the crew is my uncle and 2 cusins. Or at least we could maybe get close to the track. He races in a circuit which includes a track in IL and MN.

I found this track near Fort Wayne IN. http://www.shadybowl.com/

This one near Kalmazoo MI - http://www.us131motorsportspark.com/Default.asp

There is also http://www.glsseries.com/ for go cart racing.

Post your thoughts and Ideas and Dave and I will get the ball rolling.

131 will have Wednesday night test and tune by then as well as Friday night races, and the good thing is that Gilmore auto museum is close.

Great Lakes Dragway sounds cool and so does the camping thing. There is also a track Morocco, IN US41 and I believe a camping site with fishing and things close by but would have to check on the campsite info.

This is good please keep the thoughts coming. The more input the better for use to put together a nice weekend meet.

I want to have this meet in a more easterly area of the Midwest Chapter. I am hoping to attract members from Ohio, Indian, and Michigan. You never know we might even be able to pull a few members from the Western parts of the Northeast Chapter. Would be nice to have a bunch.

Lets have some fun!!

It has to be drag racing so we can go race all day RT66 raceway is a nice track, I thing its by rockford IL. or even like uniongrove by knosha Wi its an ok track, there is a place to camp about 5mi away @ the bong recreashon area.
camping would be so cool, mix that with a day of racing And hell ya, we cant for get the beer, but is it is a GOV. campground it might not work.

This is A really nice track!!!!!!!! there is a grand nationl meat there every year.

http://www.shadybowl.com/ This place has a group rate for activities and sound fun. I don't know nothing more about it.

I know that Great Lakes is not liked by some but it is a place I can get us into with I believe no problem.

"RT66 raceway is a nice track" I'll do some checking in on this place.

As soon as we settle on a place then I'll go to working on at date and well put'er down on the books.

Personally I'd like to go to a road race course. I think those races are fun to watch.

Here is another raceway - http://www.byrondragway.com/ Byron Dragway

This one is near St. Louis http://www.gatewayraceway.com/

The one mentioned before in Indiana is US 41 Int'l Dragway IHRA, 1/4 mile, near Morocco, IN

Also in Indiana http://www.osceoladragway.com/ Osceola Dragway

I'm game for Great Lakes Dragaway, Union Grove. I have no problems with the track, and is relatively close. I could also get ALOT of people up there in a snap of a finger. This way we have some competition. :Beer

I vote : Union Grove.

Plus, Rich, you said you know some guys there.. So let's do it.

Arrive early, BBQ, race, have a fun day at the track. Open til close.

One of my best friends has the strip in his back yard. I guess he said he get's some vip stuff because of the noise LOL.

As I said earlier...I'm waiting for enough input.. I'd rather go further east but it's the place that gets the most favorable input from the Midwest Chapter.

So if nobody else pipes in then we can do Great Lakes.

I don't know what you guys have cooking up, but keep me informed. My dad and I will be up for about anything. Both lincolns will be brought.
