IAC valve change

Is there some kind of secret to remove the IAC valve from the Marks? I have a 93 and the other day when I changed the TB I was going to change the IAC but got frustrated and did a lot of dropping sockets and small wrenches and a bunch of cursing so gave up but have to change it. In a neighborhood bar yesterday and a car guy said that snap on used to make a special tool just to remove the valve from the Marks but that they probably don't make it anymore. Did a search and didn't find what I wanted so has anyone done this replacement with a degree of success, special tools, etc? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I found the best way to do it is by removing the transmission with the car on a lift... When I had my transmission out of the car, I replaced that IACV on my '93, despite not having any problems, just as insurance.

Unfortunately, I've never heard of a special tool for doing it.

I've read about people using those small ignition wrenches that Craftsman sells. I've also read about using a peice of rubber hose as a "flexible socket" for therading the fasteners on and off. I haven't done it myself yet though.

Take it to a small independent shop that does good work and forget about it... well worth whatever they will charge (probably 1.5 hour-2).

Yeah, I thought I had it at a good independant shop a few weeks ago when they changed the intake, that would have been the best time for them to do it but it didn't happen. Don't want to take it back there for them to break something else and then charge for it so thanks for the replys.
