Iac cleaning

I decided to try another way to clean my iac withou pulling it off . i removed the intake tube and in the throttle body there is an opening about 3/8in in diameter . i rigged up a small funnel and a length of hose and poured in some seafoam and let it set overnight problem solved .car runs much better , only thing be ready for some smoke .so much easier than taking that blasted thing off...again.
 
That sounds like a plan. I think I may try that this weekend. My '96 is running like $hit lately. And it likes to just die every so often. I'm thinking IAC so I may try that route. So, if I take those four bolts off the throttle body, the whole shebang should come off? IAC and all? Cleaning it is my only option right now since I can't afford a new IAC right now.
 
you dont remove the throttlebody at all just the plastic intake tube , then look into the throttle body and you will see a round hole , thats it . pour it in let it soak.

Okay. I know exactly what you're talking about. I took my intake tube off yesterday looking for a leak and I saw where the IAC is. I think the vacuum leak may be causing some of my car's crappy running. I seafoamed it last week and saw a bunch of smoke coming from the back of the intake. I took the intake tube off to see if there was anything obvious. Didn't see anything. Is it possible that the intake tube isn't sealing completely around the throttle body?
 
Can't wait till someone dumps half a gallon of seafoam into the intake and wonder why that passage isnt filling up...
 
I just wonder where my vacuum leak is coming from behind my intake. I looked it over and I don't see any dryrotted vacuum hoses or anything. But there was definitely some seafoam smoke coming from the intake when I cleaned it out last time. That irritates me.

Could very well be a cracked EGR tube, or bad DPFE tubes.
