Not sure what thats about?

It was something about about someone who knows something about BMWs giving you advice on BMWs. We LVC members here on a Mark VIII forum may give you our best, but yeah, we really don't know :q:q:q:q about BMWs.

I am great at detailing. Ever see my white Mark or my Grey one or my Cobras? I am super anal. But I dont do it as a service. It takes me a solid 10 hours of very hard work and many expensive chemicals and I could only charge like $200. IDK how detail shops do that. I use $20 in wax, $40 in deswirls and glazes, $40 in clay and pretty much kill $30 in pads. Just not worth it.

Now on this car I am kinda bummed. Its almost 4am and I was outside just starring at the car and realized the paint was like silk nad not a swirl on it. I like doing a full detail when I get a car but this just needs a rinse and vacuume.

Anywho I was staring at the cars $30,000 in reciepts over the years and the car was WELL loved. Only got OEM parts. Three years ago someone spent $3400 (pluss about $2000 in labor) on a complete Dinan front and rear performance suspension kit. They dont offer that kit any more but to put it in Mark VIII terms it would be like replaceing: UCAs, LCAs, strut rods (the actuall rod), end links, shocks and bags, sensors, rear UCA and LCA and shocks and bags and links.

E38s have several common issues (like any car) but most are fatal. Old water pump can cost you a radiator, fan, belt, hood and grill if it fails.

Fortunatly within the last 16k its had: Fuel filter, plugs, MAF sensor, cabin filters (today), power sterring lines (common), water pum, belts, radiator, diff service, valve cover gaskets (tooday) new vac lines, brakes, battery, PCV plate etc etc.

I have NEVER bought a car that needed nothing. Even when I bouoght my first Cobra new it had to in the shop first cause a power line fell on it the day before I bought it.

Nice car. But pathetic for a BMW to build a $90k car that falls apart in 10years and needs everything replaced at least once. MB s500 from that era is even worse. Like one MB owner once told me, its one thing to buy a BMW/MB and its another to keep it running right.
My 92 LSC with 100k still has all original parts. Minus calipers and wear and tear type parts.

Great road car. Enjoy it!

i would go for #2 or #3 i wouldnt chance it wit #1 cus of the no history but it does look good tho

Great job Laser. That thing is super sharp and very well maintained. Nothing beat's buying pp and getting all the maint recipt's since new. It's alot better when you bought it for 1/3 the price of just the cost of repairs in the last 10 years. :)

I hate YOU

I love almost everything about most of the european cars, you see they have a lifespan for a reason; it is by design and part of the EU manufacturing strategy, they believe that technology will outrun the usefulness of the product in the form of effectiveness, efficiency, and resource spend to operate or repair.
Most of the EU countries have a version of the UK's M.O.T. inspection which is just brutal to pass. This is why you don't see a lot of beater cars on the roads over there, it and the statement above is also why a lot of the manufacturing jobs have stayed in place.
I'm sure someone won't like what I said... But it is factual.

Love the car Bill! I've always wanted a 850 series.. practical? No... But I still want one and neither is half the crap I buy.
