my 1994 lincoln mark viii is having problem and i cant figure out what is wrong. first my car was overheating soo i replaced the thermostat and now it overheats when im hitting the gas but not when im idle. it also has smoke coming from the exhaust and it soound like its about to run out of gas can someone please help me

Im not 100% sure here but when mine did this I replaced my witer pump and it fixed it. Mine was having the same exact problem

You have either a burnt piston ring and bad valve or valve guide in Cylinder #8.

The engine design does not allow for coolant to pass in and around cylinder #8 on the driver's side cylinder head. The coolant dead ends there.

but like above questioned, the color of the smoke would help.
