I need a new Battery

So, went in today and found out my battery voltage is only 1/3 of what it needs to be, therefore I am going to buy a new battery. What is the best battery in peoples opinion to put in my LS, the Motorcraft battery, or something else?
 
In b4 Motorcraft and vent tube.



But yea, the Motorcraft is a safe bet, I have good experience with Duralast batteries in past. I personally run a dry cell battery just fine.

I never had good luck with anything that said Duralast. You'll need the warranty. I hope it has a vent tube connection.
 
Motorcraft. My 02 LS went 140K miles with the origonal and 1 replacement Motorcraft. I traded it at 140K with a strong battery still. In my experience OEM batteries are good for 5-7 years, and parts store replacements are 2-3 years.
 
Motorcraft, replaced original after 7 years with vented OEM #BXT-66-750 for $109.95 plus tax from the local Ford dealer, hard to beat that.

If thats the case I'll probably just get a Motorcraft, because starting is always a pain in the cold MN winter

I replaced mine with a motorcraft Tested Tough MAX last year for $120 installed. And it has 750cca so starting wont be an issue in the coild.
 
Grab one from Advance Auto and use one of their coupons...that will most likely be the cheapest, good battery you can get.
 
I know I shouldn't post this but my 2000 still has its original battery. I drive it to Vermont for skiing where I've seen -35F. So far (153,000) so good.
 
I'm new here so someone please explain the vent tube thing with the battery?:confused:

Because the battery is in the "passenger compartment" it must be vented to the outside. When a battery charges it can (will) vent hydrogen gas. Hydrogen build-up would make the car a hydrogen bomb.

So what does the bent look like? Where in the trunk is it located? :confused:

A rubber tube that runs from the top of the battery (rear of the car) to a connection at the rear of the spare tire well.

OK, So the previous owner recently replaced the battery but I see that he didn't connect the vent tube. Where do I attach the tube to the new battery? :confused:

The battery handle in the picture is hiding the spot where the vent tube connection should be on the battery. If you find that the battery has two connections, you will have to plug one of them. If it has no connections, then replace it or live (hopefully) with the danger.
