Ok i drill the separator plate perfect but didnt put the shift linkage inside the transmission back drove it down the block and knew somthing was wrong. Came back home put the shift linkage back where it was supposed to be. drove down the block but no 4th gear. It goes into neutral when in third gear if i let off the gass it goes back into gear. i dont know what i coulve missed. im stumpped and have to go to work tommorow night. any thoughts?

+1

Just jack up both rears so you can feel neutral (with the shift linkage
Apart).. Then place it in park from Underneath, reassemble shifter linkage

I think if you do a search you can find it I don't have it bu I know I've seen it somewhere.

ok the sift linkage was in the right place but the cover for the 2 to 3 accumulator popped off, i bent the mounting hooks out a little more so it would hold. now it shifts great but 4th gear doesnt engage unless i let off the throttle? damit jim.

Hell yeah, its officially been flushed. I been reusing the fluid each time though. Loosing about a quart each time.

You didn't drill the d hole if it wasn't there right
That is from becontrols not sure what j-mod calls it

Haven't changed the packman yet

But will this cause forth gear to slip and then slam into gear after letting off the throttle?

I stand corrected drove the car to work today and its somthing still wrong with the 2 to 3 shift and the 3 to 4 they only engage under very light throttle but once im at highway speeds they 3 to 4 is ok. what do you think is going on?

what i think is going on is you shouldnt have done this. i'm not trying to be a dick, but you dont play with transmissions if you are unsure and you are very much unsure. did you take the seperator plate off by just dropping the pan and then taking off the seperator plat/ or did you pull the whole valve body out first. also, when removing those 3 round plates you have to make damn sure that you know exactly how they were on, they have to go back in the same direction, and you cant flip them over. i cant tell you where to begin to look for the problem, because i didnt see what you did in person, but if i had to guess i would say you drilled 1 or all the wrong holes and you have the round plates on in a different configuration. at any one point did you flip the valve body over with the seperator plate off, did you lose any check balls?

no i never flipped the valve body over when the plate was off but i will check those, i did a jmod on my 93 about three years ago and had no problems i will have to just pull the valve body one more time and triple check everything. oh i dont think your a dick i just think your cocky, ive been a mechanic for 15 years and must have missed something. thanks for the tips anyways.

well i grew up in my uncles mechanic shop, i worked for my best friends dad in his mechanic shop for 8 years, and i had my own shop for 12 years, but there are still a few things i dont touch, or know enough about to touch. you can be a mechanic, and still not know what you are doing. i learn new stuff all the time. transmissions make me cringe, i dont like going inside them, but i have done so many j-mods thats about all i will do to them, i would never attempt to rebuild one i just dont know enough about them. you are just gonna have to trace your steps backwards. are you sure everything is plugged back in, and do your have your mlps lined up correctly as well? i'm sure whatever it is, will be figured out there is only so much you could have done during a j-mod. good luck hope you find out whats wrong. and yes, i am cocky as hell. i'm also a dick too!

Did you change the OD servo? If you did you probably dropped the OD band.
