Yep that's right, I did it again. I went out and bought another Mark VIII. I wasn't even looking for one. It just so happens that while my son was gassing up his Mark a couple of days ago, a tow truck driver complimented him on his Mark. He mentioned that he had a friend that had a 93 Mark VIII that the air ride system had took a dump, and they parked it. It's been sitting for about three months in the driveway. They were quoted $2000 to replace all the airbags, and $1000 to replace them with springs.
They wanted to sell the car for $500.00 When I went there, it's a bit rough, but had potential. I was really drawn to this car more when I found out that it is technically one owner. The lady's father bought the car brand new in 93, and gave it to his daughter (the lady) a couple of years ago. The car has 144,729 miles on the clock. So it was time to talk money. I didn't really need this car, so I offered $200 for it. She countered with $350. I said SOLD. I gave her $360 and said "keep the change."
Driving home was an adventure. The battery wouldn't jump, because it was deader than Julius Caesar. The power steering had the bare minimum in it, and it squeeked and squawked all the way home. I felt like I was in a low rider, because I bounced all the way home. That was the most uncomfortable ride I've ever had in a Mark. It will bet the first thing I fix.
