Today I bought a '99 Town Car and though it is not the same animal as my Mark VIII I think I may let the Mark go. The Mark VIII is in really good shape with 164,000 showing. I bought it December 31, 2007 and have put 14,000 or so on it this year. The front end has received a driver side tie rod end and a pass side upper A-Arm. These additions took care of any and all front end slack. There was some brake shake so I put a set of drilled and slotted rotors all around with new pads. They pull the car down in a hurry at the cost of some noise at low speed. I put two tires on back but the car needs a good 4 wheel alignment and a matched set of tires around it. I replaced the plugs and put one coil on it. The engine runs very strong but may have a motor mount broken. I have noticed a thump when I brake torqued it a couple of times. With the miles on it I try to take it easy on it. There is the common oil leak behind the filter but I have the gasket for it. Just never found the time. The color is the $300 extra cost Pearlescent Ivory Tri Coat with the drivers side being repainted at one time and the drivers corner of the rear bumper being scratched. This is a sunroof, heated seats, lincoln phone, 10 disk in trunk all option except the garage door openers. The interior is the two tone chocolate and ivory. Seats are fairly clean with some rubs and cracks. The covers on the window switches are gone - as usual. The headliner needs to be replaced because of the previous owner not knowing how to close a sunroof. This car has the usual older car items. The ignition switch or security feature is kicking in and sometimes I have had to turn the key back to the off position then try to start it. This has been since I have had it and it has never let me down. The transmission will surge at crawing speeds and I am sure the modification has never been done on the transmission they all needed. It has taked to quitting when I come up to a stop sign every now and then but it may go weeks between times it does this. Could be fuel filter or K&N filter needing service. The wheels are the factory chrome directional wheels in good condition but not perfect. I can send some pics and it is located in Clarksville, TN in middle TN right on the state line with Kentucky. I would not hesitate to get in and drive it anywhere. If you have any interest then drop me an email at bryan_baggett@hotmail.com.
