idk if someone did this but i figured i'd start a thread on how you came about getting your mark, was it passed down, or you just bought it, and how happy were you when you first got it. ill start it off.
my dad got the mark 4 years ago from an older couple in toms river nj. they had it garaged, my dad checked for leaks under the car, rust, squeaks or anything bad while it was running, nothing! car was spotless inside and out, it still is except for some minor scratches. since he got the car he got an exhaust done, rims and tires, hood repainted, rear bumper and rear quarter repainted(stock antenna was removed, xm was installed on trunk), installed custom wood trim kit inside, suspension redone, and drivers seat re upholstered. i loved the car when i first saw it. i know a lot of people my age say it looks like a granny/grandpa car, but even stock these things are quick, and with the right mods, exhaust and some speedstars the cars better looking than a lot out there. my dad gave me the keys this august, i gave my bro money towards a car, so i didn't get this for free technically, 2 days later he found an ad in the paper, 91 mustang gt 30k miles, $4500. i was a little jealous cause it was a loud mustang with such low miles, but then i realized everything is done on my car, its powerful and comfortable, his car is powerful. so were both happy, but can't drive yet i really love the car and im keeping it till it craps out on me, theres a lot i want to do to this car. my car is faster though haha

Dad bought my mark for me when I was 16. Off an old lady. He knew it was my dream car since I was 11. First data I drove it I threw it sideways merging on the freeway and got pulled over

Well, in 97' I bought a brand new pearl white LSC, drove it off the lot with 7/10ths of a mile on it. My first new car. It was a great car, I put 172k on it and sold it. So recently I got the chance to get another one....same as before pearl white 97' LSC.

Bought mine for $2k with 114k on it with some problems, now has even more problems and i cant wait to get rid of it and go back to a mountaineer.

I bought mine off of craigslist. I had a new job that paid decent and I had wrecked my 94 mustang, so it was down for repairs and needed a daily driver and had lusted over a first gen Mark Viii since about '05. I started by googling and doing some internet research before I found LVC and.... the other place. I bought the car for 1500 and drove it home. The guy was sick of tirekickers and idiots calling him and pretty much told me it was mine when I had the money. Headlights suuuuuuucked driving it home that night!! Did a full tune up and started driving it. Then the suspension started to get worse to the point it was unbearable to drive... then hit a deer at the end of '09. Now its about ready for street duty again.

* Bought mine cheap, with 114K from a guy who said it had alot of problems with it and couldn't wait to get rid of it.

Haha, reminds me of the day I bought my police interceptor, as I was driving home from the guy's house I bought it from I sideways getting on the on ramp. No po po though.

Bought my Mark a few weeks back when insurance gave me money after I totalled the aforementioned Crown Victoria. Saw it on CL for $1,200 and got it for a grand. Always appreciated these cars, but I am picking up another Panther to add to the stable as soon as possible.

After a couple months of searching I found mine. Bought it in 07 as a 2nd 'fun car' from a man in his 50's. The first owner had it from 97-01 and put 105k on it, the guy I bought it off of put 20k on it in 6 years, likely because of the blend door actuator(no winter driving?). Bought it the first day it popped up on cl. Due to buying it so quickly he didn't want to budge on the price(and it was a good deal already). 122k~ for 3k in 07.
He lost all interest in it so alot of things needed attention(blend door, srb's, 1 bj, Misc little things on the inside) but nothing body wise. Hid's, neon, cupholders worked as they should.

I love it on a day to day basis.

I bought my first Mark VIII almost 4 years ago. I have wanted one of these since my first ride in one circa 1997. My parents told me it was too fast for me and I had to drive economy and luxury cars for a while, but after moving out, getting married, joining the military, and getting stationed in NJ, I finally picked one up. Only $2000 on ebay with 130k miles. It was a 97 Black/black/tan. That's right, cloth-top. :D I have had a total of 9 now and highly doubt i'll be out of a Mark VIII any time soon.

Hope that's not me when I pick the stang up from laser this weekend

Had the cobra for a toy and a 94 cougar for the dd with the 4.6 decided it was time to get rid of it and found out the mark had a similar engine to the cobra and decided to jump on it. It might not be the best looking car but it does run well. That being said I am ready to move on to the next venture. If it doesn't sell it might become drag racing duty only.

I always liked them and my grandpa's friend had bought mine new. Anyway, one day I had the fortune to get to talk to Tony Pedregon and he told me the Mark VIII had the strongest production block. So I bought a junk 8 and pulled the motor. Built it to the hilt for my 04 Mach 1. After it was done I decided I wanted a Mark VIII as a daily. Looked at lots of them over a years time. Finally my Gpa's friend sold me his 93 with 50,xxx miles. It was going to be my daily, but that never happened. It now has the usual suspect bolt-ons. 3.73 Gears, Trac-lok, 3200 stall, exhaust, 30lb/hr injectors, addco front and rear sway bars. And of course the played-out Saleens with 245/45/18s up front and 275/40/18s out back.

got mine from my uncle 2 years ago. bough it for $1000 with 60K on the clock. and nothing wrong except brakes. ive always like the big older cars. the land yachts LOL. looked under the hood and said no :q:q:q:qing way! shes bin in my drive way ever sense.

had her 2 years only put 6K on her. will never get rid of it.

still working on my other mk. air suspension, and has 203K on the clock. runs like a champ though!

My friend bought a black 97 LSC in 1998. I loved it but couldn't afford it. I always had Town Cars. After I got married, my wife wanted me to get rid of the Town Cars because we weren't senior citizens. I found my first Mark on Craigslist 3 years ago. Out of all the cars I've owned over the years, this one is by far my favorite. My wife loves it and enjoys all the stares and compliments she gets. I believe I will never sell it. Just keep it as close to perfect as possible.

How I got my LSC? Kinda funny, actually.

I fixed the car several times for a friend that had to "make payments" to pay for the work. She still owed me a hundred and something dollars and decided to buy another vehicle. She knew I liked the car and asked me if I wanted to buy it. So I basically get a really sweet deal - worked for me!

Father-in-law gave me my 94. Put around 4k into it...needs another 4k to make it what I want. He lived by the beach...rust was everywhere with sand in the glovebox !

got mine on accident, really. ive always had sportscars, a couple iroc's, 71 and 88 gta transam, 85 5.0, 88 5.0, cobras, and 74 impala with 502.went to a lot in hollywood to look at a 94 25th anniv. t/a white with blue stripe, but it was heavily beat on, smelled and there she was, black, not a scratch, clean interior he wanted 5g for it and said it was going to auction, i offered 3g he said no then tried to sell me some other stuff i wasnt interested in. a few days later i get a call from him asking if i was still interested in the mark to come by, i told him only if hed take my origional offer he said yep. then i get there and he wants 600 for " dealer fees" and 100 for take delivery, so i got up and yelled at him for wasting my time. as i got in the car with my fiance, he waived all his fees and it was a done deal.had it for a month before the first problem arose, water swallowing.but by that time i was in love with it,the ride, the power for what i considered a big car even though it was 2 door, the dash layout, love. the love affair continues. bought cams today.found a place nearby that was too cheap to say no. i mean like 450 cheaper than anywhere ive looked online, comp cams.

i trade my 1989 kawasaki ninja x750 for it i paid 800 for the bike, guy was selling car for 2500 but wanted my bike instead, never even heard of mark 8's till then, glad i did now, lovin my mark 8 :D

i bought my first mark in 2006 it was a 1994 portifino blu with the aqua blu interior for 500.00 and it need alot if parts... i mean i drove it from minnesota to charlotte and i bought my 2nd mark viii for 1200.00 in 2009 it was my gen 2 and then i bought my red gen2 for 500.00 LSC(BRN 2/22/2011where gman has it at his house and then i bought my current gen2 for 800.00 (10/14/2011)....the guy was asking 1200.00 in the condiition it sits its a base model but no biggie. so far i replaced everything from headlights to grill to headerpanel and compressor and its almost done

I had been looking for a while, I knew what color and year I wanted years in advance.. Then in 2006 I found exactly what I was looking for.. only it was in Ohio. My dad happened to be in Ohio at the time, and in the same town. I had him go take a look at it for me, it sounded perfect. After checking out the pictures he sent me I told him to get it. I gave him the money, he purchased the car and had a friends family member drive it back to Arizona. It had 59k on the clock and was mint.

Now it has 130k, hail damage, lasagna, and the trans is bleeding out in the garage.. :(

As soon as I collect from the unpaid wages case I won it will be back in action.. and better :)
