Well today I was driving my dads car (lincoln Continental) and I played with an 03+ LS. We had about six runs and he only beat me once. Thats because I had it on D instead of over drive, my car was stuck at 111 MPH. I had him by 2-4 car lenghts on the runs I did win on. it was fun, I wonder if hes on here.

BTW It was a really nice gray color, chrome rims and HIDs but I don't know if it was a V6 or a V8. How can you tell that without looking at the V8 emblem?

If he only beat you once it was most likely a v6. I'm not calling an LS a rocket but a v8 is too much of a challenge for a Continental.

Probably a 6. I outran a Conti with my 8 not long after I got the car. He thought he was hot :q:q:q:q and cut me off turning onto the entrance ramp on the interstate, then took off up the ramp. I tailed him on the way up and as soon as the dotted lines started passin by I cut out and put him in the rearview for good. Dont know when he gave up, but I kept it at about 120 for 3 miles or so to the next exit, which is where I was goin in the first place. :p Funny how much faster you seem to get places when you're driving like an idiot.

yea I am guessing it was a V6 but I dont know. I think a Continental can hold its own with a V8 LS. BTW I was beating him till I hit 111 MPH since I had it in third and it wouldn't shift to its forth gear. Win is a win even if it was my fault.

I'd say a continental can hold its own against a 2000-2006 v6, not a v8.

ls8 should be able to beat a conti. wish i knew stock 1/4 times.

ps. i tried f-in w/ a chrysler crossfire last night and got whooped, it was nasty. course the 20's dont help, neither does the 100lbs or so in the trunk...

what is the quater mile of a stock LS? Both of them?

Stock Gen 1 (00-02) LS8 w/ good driver :15.1-15.2 ET in the 1/4.

Stock Gen 2 (03-06) LS8 w/ good driver: 14.6-14.7 ET in the 1/4.

I have no idea what the V6's do.

I cannot stress enough how much a good driver who knows how to launch the car and shift the car will matter here. The LS is an auto but it is best to shift it in SST mode to get the best ET's when stock. If you aren't familiar with "racing" this car then expect your ET to be at least .25-.75 seconds off the best stocker times.

i have a 00'ls8. what is sst mode? only performance changing button i have is trac. control.... i believe...

SST isn't a button, it's an optional shifter. If your shifter has P, R, N, D5, D4, 3, 2, 1, you don't have an SST shifter--the SST shifter only has P, R, N, D5, D4, and + and - (for upshift and downshift).

There are pictures of SST shifters around here somewhere. I know I posted a picture of a 2nd Gen SST shifter some time back.

whats their trap speed? And you would have to be a really good driver to get those numbers. I have no idea what the 03+ get but I have seen post of 02 V8. What I usally see is around 15.4 - 15.8 but i guess you hang in LS forum so you would know more.

Even drivin not the greatest 00-02V8s will run stock 15.3-15.4, seen it. I bet a 03upV8 will go 14.9 drivin just OK. 00-02s will trap 91-93 stock, 03ups should be around 95.

Never ran my 02 stock but figure I could hit a 14.9-15.0 stock.

03V6s I think would run around 16.0-16.3, that would fit what you describing, your Conti should run just under 16.0. Seen a 95-97 model run 15.7 at my track once, pulled pretty good, not sure if it was completely stock but definately no serious mods.

My 2000 V6 ran a 14.1, but thats for 1000'. Can't find a 1/4 mile in AR.

either you mistyped or you have some serious mods

Thats accurate. A 1/4 mile is 1320'. With a 14.1 at the 1000', that would likely be a high 16 1/4mile say 16.7-16.9.

00 V6 models had 210hp vs. the 03 V6 you raced which has 232hp + 3.58 gears vs. the 00s 3.31s.

That's cuz it's a Mercedes Benz SLK with a Chrysler body. They're nothing you want to mess with in an LS. Especially if it was supercharged.

^ ya it was pretty bad.

couple days ago i took an es330 by about 2.5 cars. made me feel a little better after my crossfire run...
