How to Change 1998 Mark VIII LSC Spark Plugs

Hi!
I am going to need to change my spark plugs on my Mark VIII ’98 LSC soon, and in the Owner’s guide it says that the first 4 plugs have an “EG” suffix and the next 4 have an “E” suffix. The part number is AWSF-32EE. I was wondering what the difference is between these two, and which you would recommend to change.

The factory installed plugs for the mkviii were 2 different p/n's. Drivers side had platinum on the ground electode side, and the passenger side had platinum on the center electrode side. IIRC. The service plug was AWSF-32EE
 
I have 764's..Nice little plugs but i'd prob throw in some run of the mill platniums next time i do it.
 
Hey, hate to dig up an old thread, but I guess its better then starting a new one.

So I have to do plugs and boots hopefully this week sometime. I looked at AutoZone, and they have the boots and MotorCraft Platinum 433s in stock. I guess I should get a can of carb cleaner to clean the little oil there is up top, under the covers? I'm just completely clueless, as this is the first FoMoCo vehicle I've torn into.
 
Under the covers it should be pretty clean. Just wipe them down w/ a rag. You might have oil in the holes though. I just used a long flathead with a thin rag at the end to soak the oil up. Luckily I had very little oil in any of mine. Also pick up some dielectric grease for the wires while your at it.
 
Sounds easy enough. Assuming this thing hasn't had plugs changed in about 75k miles, what are the chances of them giving me hell coming out?
 
Not too sure. I had thought mine were original but they were indeed changed at one point. With mine I was very gentle, loosening each one little by little at first till they had little resistence then took them out regularly. Just take your time, tourque to spec or just tighten them snug then 1/4 turn to finish it off. Don't use anti sieze.

Andy long as our cars use a 1 piece plug nothing to worry about taking them out. Now the 3V 4.6 with the 2 piece plugs is a cluster fug.
 
Yea. These are standard 5/8ths correct? I'm on my way to Sears to pick up a spark plug socket and wanted to make sure. Apparently some of the people at my old shop decided to take it, as its no longer there.
 
Ok, only problem is that none of the parts stores around me (AutoZone, Advanced Auto, etc.) seem to carry those 764s. What the hell....

Are those 764s copper core? Napa is telling me they are, shouldn't I be using platinum?

Well, I think tomorrow I'll do the fuel filter, and the K&N should be here Wednesday afternoon at some point. Maybe I'll tackle the plugs and boots later in the week.
 
they are copper. some people like platinum plugs, some don't. in the mark i'm told it doesn't seem to matter.
 
I use either motorcraft or autolite double plats gapped to .054 with no issues. Anti-seize on the threads, dielectric grease on the porcelain. Dispite popular myth dielectric grease is not for the contact point, it's primary job is to keep the rubber boots from sticking to the porcelain on the plugs.
 
Those stores dont have them?? Thats weird. They are the most basic plug out there and I swear I can even get at the McDonald's drive-thru!
