Well after only having the mark for a few months the wife has decided she wants a Ford Expedition and since money is a little tight looks like im going to have to sell the mark vii to come up with a little extra money . Only way i told her we would do this is come tax time that i get another mark viii and she agreed to it... So on to the car..

96, 168k, Body is in GREAT shape, has the chrome 10 spokes, Interior is in good shape, Tranny shift's perfect, New Kuhmo Tires,No Leaks, Air suspension works the way it should. Only thing wrong with the car is i have the CEL on and its the dreaded IRMC Code. Here are some pics of the car... I payed 2100 for it and where i am at now there arent many mark viii's around. I have seen 2 in maybe 6 months and mine is by far the nicest. So what would Ya'll pay for my car?

Thanks guys

Make her wait till tax time if you like the color combo of the car
Fix the imrc and I think you can get your money back .

i have never lost money on selling a car and dont plan to on this car... i have sold cars with ALOT more issues than the mark has for sometimes double what i paid for the car... Before the mark we had a 96 Towncar with 225,000 miles on it, screwed up rear air bags dents and dings worn out front suspension and sold it for $2600.00 in 2 days...

Im shooting for around $3400 :p (I know I know but yal know how the people on cl work, the try to lowball everytime) on the mark and if the right person comes would take $2500. Not in a big hurry at all to sell either... Im just thinking with as good of shape as its in body wise(has 3 small door dings and thats it,paint is perfect) and honestly not many people around here will care about the imrc's. It still drives great and has alot of get up and go...

Have already had a few calls on it and possibly one guy coming to look at it..

She is a redhead and lets just say i dont make her wait for long on anything, i would rather let the mark go and get her the expy and have a happy redhead :)

I wish you the best selling it and hope you can make some money on it. Very clean good lookin' car I just wouldn't pay that much for it. 2500 is reasonable if you fix the imrc's or you sell it to someone that doesn't know better.

Thanks, Im going to tell anyone that comes and looks at it about the imrc's and tell them what is involved but dont think it will make much of a difference. hell i bought the car with the check engine light on and still dont regret buying the car... i would like to see how much better she would run the the imrc's working though :D.

One quick question though about the imrc's, what would be the best year mark to get as far as easier to find parts etc for the imrc's?

Confused. You asked, but you already have a price in mind. :)

anything but a 96.
also, they made more first gens than second gens, so of course, parts will be a bit easier to find just cuz there are more cars out there.
2nd gens are nicer though.
but 1st gens are faster (and IMO) look better.

good luck, and i honestly would pay around what you paid for it, the cars clean dude. get a gen 1, i think gen 2's are ugly, too rounded, i only like the LSC versions of the gen2's. all up to you though, your going to have to live with it lol, good luck with the sale!

+1 and you JUST bought the car so you know what someone was just willing to pay and what someone would let it go for. Making a thread like that tells me you just wanna try and sell it to someone on here and you wanna retail it to someone on here. Lame.

I have no intentions on selling it on here.. the car has been on craigslist since yesterday morning.. I just wanted to get honest opinions on what yal thought the car was worth..
When i bought the car the guy was wanting 2900 for it but it had a egr tube that needed to be welded and i told him id give him 2100 and he said he had to sell quick to pay his rent so he took the money..

Honestly, I wouldn't pay much more than $1500-$1800 for it. That's what it's worth. It sure ain't worth $3400 bucks by any stretch of the imagination (sorry, no insult intended, just being honest). I sold my '96 with 204K miles and a couple of minor issues (smog pump CEL, CD changer, power antenna) for $1500 bucks and I felt like I did good. I was asking $2K with some wiggle room. I wasn't expecting to get that much, and I didn't. I was being realistic. These are not new cars. They are anywhere from 13 to 18 years old. And they mostly have well over 100K miles. Some even over 200K or 300K. Most rational thinking people aren't going to pay over book value for one of these cars unless they have more money than brains.

so far 2 calls on it today and both callers are suppose to come look at it this evening... If it sells tonite that would be record fast sell since ive advertised it for a day...

Not to burst your bubble or anything but you know 80% of the people on craigslist are full of poopies right? Been flipping cars for a couple months and am amazed at the ammount of people "on their way" that never show up.

Oh yea i know that... One guy is suppose to be driving in from abilene (90 miles away) to look at it... he got all the directions and everything.. so we will see.. the other one kept texting so i doubt he will show..

Not to insult anybody, but I know a lady right now that has one the same color as that for $1000. She just put new air bags all the way around on hers - it's in nice shape.

When it comes to selling something, it all depends on how long you want to sit on it. The higher the price, the longer you will have to wait, but you will most likely get what you're asking...
