It started getting really hot here (101F) yesterday and after a 2 hour drive i look to the rear of my vehicle and the inside part of the tip cutouts and the foam underneath was melted. It was literally melted plastic hanging down.

My tips arent pushed out all the way but they arent way inside either....guess i need to cut them off and weld longer tips on.

Anybody run into this issue??

Nothing at all, it was 40C on some days last summer (104F). My first guess would be that your tips are too far in.

Post up some pics :D

It's those tiny tips you got. Need 4" tips to help dissipate the heat better :p

Probably need pushed out more.

Since I just had mine installed I can share what the muffler shop told me... make sure the tips are out past the bumper a little so when the exhaust heat goes up it goes up outside the bumper (not in). The Body Shop guy and Painter confirmed this too.

If this is your current setup, it looks like they need to come out:

Double Wall tips run cooler too (yours look like they may already be).

I rememeber your tips being tucked in, but they do look too far back in that link LDM posted. Haven't ran into any heat issues with my tips. I had 3.5'' for a year and a half and 4'' for a year, both set ups were a few inches past the bumper

Yeah i need to push the tips out.

Gonna have to take a dremel and shave away some of the bumper as well. We learn from our mistakes.

Ordered some longer tips....the ones i have now are 4" i think and im going to some 8.5" tips so that should solve the problem.

Gonna stop by walmart and invest in a dremel and cut away some of the warped plastic.

A dremel is a handy tool to have. I just bought mine to cut my headlights but have used it so much after that, love it.

Tips are in and i also picked up a dremel 200 and hacked away at most of the melted plastic. Still need to get some more shaved down and then touch it up with some paint but its good enough for now.

Will get the new tips welded on tomorrow.

You know that plastic thing called a bumper? This time have that shiny thing (tip) sticking past it a wee bit. Ok?

:p

LOL....these tips are more than twice as long and will stick out.

I have learned my lesson.

Better??

Also i have the old tips up for grabs if someone wants them.

That's better. I would've pushed them out just a tap bit further, not that you can really see on a black car, but on other colors you can see build up on the bumper above the tips if the tips are too close to the bumper.

Yeah I wanted them just a bit further but thats all i could get without adding extra pipe.
