Hot air blowing

I have just purchased a 1997 MK111 with 100,000kms on it. I have a problem with the AC. It only blows hot air even though the vent only selection. I have read about the "Blend door motor temp control" issue. Can anyone suggest if this might be it or how to trouble shoot the system. all the switches seem to work and change the airflow from floor to dash to defrost. AC compressor frosts up and Has good pressure. Thanks Richard

You've answered your own question, if the compressor is frosting up and you are getting only hot air, then it's the blend door issue....do your research on here, lots of good write ups on how to do it.

That must be one of the ultra rare 97 Mark111s.

The blend door actuator is a very common problem on the Gen2 cars. I'm pretty sure you will find that is your problem. Do a search on here for it and you'll find all the information you need on the topic.
