Hot air blowing

I just purchased a 1997 MK111 with 100,000kms on it. When I select Max Air conditioning I just get hot air blowing out of it. I had it set on Vent only and once had cold air blowing but as soon as I turned it off and on again the no cold air just hot. I can see the AC compressor is frosted up and seems to be working. Any help would be appreicated. Richard

If it frosted up, it's either too low or was in the process of leaking when you looked at it. O rings on the compressor may be dry rotted or another compressor may be needed. Did you see any cold fog coming out of the vents? Another sign that it's leaking. If it did leak all the way down, check now to see if the compressor kicks in when it's turned on. If not, it leaked out on you at a fast pace and you caught it as it happened.
