Does the Home link buttons on some of the visors on the Mark have some kind of module located in some other place for it to work?

I'm bumping this because I have the same question. Can you install a Homelink visor in a car not originally equipped with it, and have use of its functions?

It should work fine but you will need the ones with the little home on them to work with newer garage door openers with rolling codes

The homelink module is in the visor itself. As long as the connections fit, it should work. With newer garage door openers, it will have to be in the learn mode to capture the program. I still haven't been able to get my CE to program to my Chamberlain.

sure enough.
i have one in my 93. i believe its from a 2nd gen.
the wiring change is super easy. a connector change and ground it to the mounting screw.

If I recall correctly, normal visors have a connector with 1 pin, right? A home link has 2 pins, power and ground? Thanks!

I put one in my 97 that didn't come as original equipment.

You've got to be super careful prying the visor open like a clamshell.

There's a rectangle that you'll have to cut out that was molded into it from the factory, and then you just splice it into the existing wires that are there for the vanity light. All it needs is the 12v power and a ground. You'll also need to cut 3 small holes in the fabric of the visor, for the 3 buttons. Don't cut them too big, or in the wrong spot, or else they'll be visible when completed.

I did this about 3 years ago, and didn't have a camera at the time, so no pictures.

I had an extra Homelink visor (wrong color for my car) that I had gotten at the junkyard, so I took that one apart first, to make sure I didn't mess up my black one. It was a big help.

Figured I'd take over this thread kinda, and stay on the same topic

I picked up a set of 95 black sun visors with home link, with the dual visor flip down. I'm pretty sure the black is much darker than my 98s. I may be pulling the headliner and moonroof and back deck out tomorrow. The back seat and passenger set look great, driver seat has cracks in the leather but the side bolster trim panel is intact

They have the same connectors. All of the visors had 12v power and ground, for the vanity light.

Dan is correct for the first gen.

ON A FIRST GEN!!: Normal visors had single pin connectors. Home link visors have 2 pins. You need to do some simple wiring and ground to the mounting screw.

This is probably different on a gen 2.

The ones I picked up today have a single wire. The home link panel does not have the House icon. Just an LED and 3 buttons, plus the vanity lights in the mirrors

The rolling code (house icon) didn't start until 97. There are lots of other cars out there with the same Homelink module. I used to get them out of Chrysler Sebrings all the time. Looks like I'm gonna need another one soon for my new G8.

I've never had my own garage, let alone one with a remote opener.. I wanted this style visor in my 93 but could never find any in the Aquamarine.. I was hunting for random stuff today and stumbled on these. Visors never last long at the U-Pulls around here, any that are not taken are the ones that are already junk
