Holy crap - there is fast

I guess I'm still living on planet slow having never broken 150.

Yeah that car is amazing. But really, what's the point?

the point is achievements, just look back at cars 100 years ago. in 1910 the top speed on a car was like 45 mph. its braggin rights thats all! no matter what the point its pure badass!

I think the members of LVC should donate $1,600,000 to me.

That will buy you a used Veyron. Then, 6,000 miles later, you'll have to come up with ~24,000 dollars to replace the tires. Let's not talk about other maintenance like oil changes.

Believe me, M... Those are not cars for poor folk like us, man.

So...? Two different cars. The Veyron is a LUXURY supercar and it shows and feels it. When you drive one, you'll understand.

The Aero is a pure supercar. Rough, tough and a beast to handle. Though, I haven't driven an Aero, just repeating what I've heard in the past.

Just a couple of cool things about a 'luxury supercar' (thanks C&D)

On a Veyron the windows automatically rise and lock in place at 93 mph so your dog doesn’t lose his tongue.

There are manumatic paddles on the steering wheel. You won’t be using them. Under full throttle, the car catapults through its seven gears so quickly that you can’t keep up, and manual shifting would require you to study the tach, which would mean you’re not watching the road. In a car that can attain 100 mph in 462 feet—and is 20 mph faster through the quarter-mile than a Porsche 911 Turbo—that would be insane.

Plus - nothing really looks like a Veyron... I think the Aeros look a lot like a Ferrari - now, there is nothing wrong with looking like a Ferrari, if you are a Ferrari...

The SSC is a nice car and I am sure WAY cheaper to maintain then a Veyron but the Veyron is the better car IMHO.

I thought it was funny that VW got ticked off that the SSC was a couple MPH faster so then they came out with the Super Sports Veyron.

James May just drove the SS to its top speed and its amazing to see that car at 260 MPH and its dead silent inside and not the slightest hint of vibration. Now thats engineering at its finest. :)

What I did find unusual was when James asked how long the tires will last at 255mph the engineer said "We know how long they will last at 245mph, 15 minutes"
$20,000 a set and they are supposed to be replaced at the 6k service intervals.

I still would kill to even go for a ride in one. The car is a masterpiece of tech and design. Watching the hour long build video of them really shows you just how special that car is.

yjr Areo is also coming out with a newer and faster model if you checked their site. So stay tuned..this might go 300mph :P

honestly if i were to ever go that fast i would prolly die id be sh!tting bricks all it takes is one little twist of the wrist and youll be in a million pieces on the side of the road

do you have a link to that video
Go to Topgearonline.com and its in their season 15. Its also on their "Best Of Season 15" video.

And it will be quite some time before we see that, one hit 300. It took so much more power (had to add more power then a Fox GT has) to gain just a few more MPH and the cars aerodynamics were much improved to do that. The Veyron has so many more millions into it from a design and testing standpoint that I dont think the Aero can do it.

To hit 300 the car would need another 600 hp +/- and thats cause they will have to dial in downforce, prolly a ton and a half worth. Then there are the tires. The best tire in the world can handle 4000lbs of car going 245 mph for 15 minutes and then they explode (see the Veyron build videos on Youtube). Sure the Aero is lighter but add in the downforce and how long you think the Michelin will last? My bet is just under 2 minutes and the car cant get to its top speed in that time...... well maybe it can, never driven one myself!

At these speeds its not just throwing more power to make it happen, there is a crap ton of other issues.

Its one thing to make a car that can go 300 mph and thats all it does. Its quite a different feat to make a car do that, turn excellent, have AC, be able to sit in traffic, work in the rain, start up without some long start proceedure, run on pump gas, take a passenger etc etc etc
