HID's not coming on

if the scil was bad wouldnt it still not work even with aftermarket hids?

As long as you have one working circuit available, you'd be able to power the relay harness. Most likely you'd have to deal with message center faults though.

so it will run both aftermarket HIDs on one of those circuits without problems? would there be a way to trick the other one to into thinking all is good?

IF you also use an aftermarket relay harness, yes.

No that I know of.

hmmmm what aftermarket relay harness would you use? thanks so much for helping everybody on this site DLF

You can usually buy one from the same place that you purchase the HID kit.

I know that both VVME and DDM sell them.

A 6 Ohm, 50 Watt LED light bulb Load Resistor (search CBR 929RR) used on each circuit will fool the SCIL and take care of the message when having load issues or lights out messages with aftermarket HID kits. I know this to be true since that is how I turned off my warnings recently. You just tap one side to the power feed and the other to ground. Most folks use them when adding LEDs to the mix. They do get hot so don't attach them to anything plastic (or that has potential brake fluid leakage! :gr_devil:)

Most HID kits come with the relay harness included so all he would need is a set of DLF's adapters and pray the pass side SCIL circuit does not have an internal fault and never detects the load given by the resistor.

so im guessing that was you that called the other day, the message was all broken up but i did hear something about hids. going off of dlfs diagram i would check for power where i put the red line and check for ground at the blue line. if the ground is good there then look for power, id bet the scil is cooked. and im pretty sure that when you replace it you have to have the keys reprogrammed

I still have my SCIL's with keys. It looks like I'm going to have to put the one from my other parts car with door locks and trunk lock into this car. The SCIL must've taken catastrophic damage during the impact. I wish I had the fore thought to check that :(
