ok so... i ordered 2 HID kits from DDMTUNING.COM [which are APEXCONE kits]... lifetime warranty on the bulbs & the balasts... 35w 5000k... plug n play...blah blah blah.

First i installed the lowbeams... they worked the first time i hit the switch and they work 100% all the time everytime - bright as hell too.

OK, so foglight time... install the passenger side kit first [leaving the halogen bulb plugged in on the drivers side]..hit the switch, blow a fuse... ...change the whole assembly i tried on the passenger side over to the drivers side foglight - hit the switch [with the halogen bulb plugged in on the passengers side], the kit on the drivers side fires up and works 100%. So, i try again on the passenger side with the same assembly that just worked fine on the drivers side. Hit the switch, blow a fuse....... at this point i change the foglight relay in the power distribution box under the hood... try the kit again on the drivers side...and it still works everytime...try the kit on the passenger side and now i dont blow a fuse this time, but the bulb dose not ignite [turn on]....

...i am completely at a loss.... WTF??? :Bang ...anybody with any help would be much appreciated....thanks

I warned people about this problem with those cheap ass kits.

They are trash, I have read al kinds of bad stuff about those kits on HID planet as well as DDM fubaring peoples orders beyond belief.

did it come with the ballast boxes also? If it did you might have a bad one, i have gotten 1 before and all it did was blew fuses.

...i thought one of the ballasts might have been faulty, so ive tried them both... neither one works on the passenger side, both of them work on the drivers side...dosent seem to make any sense

They probably did something to your system now. They most likely shorted something out.

any chance the wires are backwards in the factory harness on that side? Factory bulb would fire anyway the wires were hooked up, ballast would not. Just throwing ideas out.

umm, ill have to get back to you on that one groundzero...honestly, i didnt know the halogen would work if the wires were reversed...im pluging them in the way the way the car is supposed to be wired...but it is a ford, so that dosent mean they wired the car the right way... thats the best explanation ive heard - thanks, ill give it a try...

+1. I had to do that on my Umnitza kit for the fogs. Of course that was after like 2 hours of switching them from driver/passenger, rechecking all connections, cussing, throwing stuff, walking away for a bit, etc. Switched the connection, and all was good.

Wait, how can you wire plug and play the wrong way. The connectors only allow for it to be one way.

Or are you talking auto the in and outs?

The auto in and outs, (factory harness/plug) sometimes ford workers like to randomly :q:q:q:q things up, might have plugged the wires into the quick release plugs backwards. My dad was at ford for 35 years, if you could hear some of the story's of the :q:q:q:q they had to fix. People dropping bolts into the intakes jsut so they would close the line for the weekend or putting marked bad parts on 400 engines just because they were bored. Not only did ford use the cheapest parts they could find, but our cars were also assembled by some of the dumbest people you would ever meet.

IIRC, I reversed the stock connector on the ballast. I don't really remember though.

A set of HID's I had needed the connectors on the HID harness switched, they were put it backwards but the stock setup on my LS was okay... But you said it fired on the other side?

The ballast may be wired backwards. I got 2 sets of DDM kits and I had to flip polarity for them to work, but they work great now. I would be 98% shocked if you found out something was wrong with your HID kit. Sounds to me like there's something wrong with the wiring on the passenger side. Have you tried using a one of the HID wiring harness yet?

I had to do that on my Mark VIII. pos and neg were backwards for what is standard on both driver and passenger side. The halogens dont care which way current is flowing but the ballasts won't work.

12v doesnt matter which side the wires are on for bulbs... pos and neg switched it works either way. The HID ballast may be compromised by it though, try switching the wires, worst case your ballasts wont work. your regular halogens will work fine though.

Sorry to carjack.......... Anyone with hids, what's is a good set and where to get them. Looking for 4-5k for the lows only.

well gentlemen...drum-roll please.... i cant believe it - but the son-of-a-b*tch was wired with the positives and negatives reversed on the passenger side. i reversed the plug and they fire up 100% everytime...

...i never in my wildest dreams woulda thought...never...that the wires would be switched...leave it to Ford to make something so simple...so diffucult...

...i wish i could buy everybody a beer....thanks, everyone i appreciate it.

Especially you guys...ground_zero298, pektel, Rich88LSC, & CrackerJack ... if any of you guys are ever comming out to L.I. - gimme a shout ill have a nice beverage of your choice waiting for 'ya! :D

...ill be sure to post pictures soon, and dont get me wong - i know that the "cheap ass" DDM kits arnt the best out there, but for $65.00 + shipping... they are almost as cheap as silverstars... maybe ill upgrade to a $200.00 kit eventually, but then again... maybe not

sweet man glad you got it fixed. I'm just glad you actually explained the problem and what you had done and tried already, half the people on here would have just posted my light don't work and it would take 5 pages to figure out what the problem was. I've been running a cheap kit in my car for 3 years, no problems at all.
