Hey Alax7...

I dont think so. I thought I had seen that before I had my cdc. Good looking out man :Beer

Oh, I would if it was mine but I dont think it is. I'll check my pics right now to make sure.

Dude, do u have pics of your intake??? Im planning to run a tube from under my airbox to the lower grill facing forward to drive more air into the box. I dont wanna erase the air box to keep my engine bay looking oem stock, but I think a bit more air would be good, specially now that Im erasing my catalytics and soon buy an SCT tunning device

ok. Here you go. Easy fix for when the rain comes if you use pipes, I just stuck a end cap on it to not take the whole thing out.

That is exactly what I had in mind but better with the half box u got down there !!
What do I buy ??? Does water make it all the way up ?? I dont think it'll matter tho as it'll stay in the air box under my filter, right ??

That half box it the stock air filter box for a gen2 v8, not sure if v6 have it. I was trying to find something like this at home depot that had a smooth conversion into the tube to funnel the air better until I saw a really old thread with the stock air box used. I just bought 3inch pipes from home depot, a rubber adapter to go over the air box pipe and those 2 metal/wire clamps. I dont think water makes it up there, and if it does its not easy, but since I was driving in 2-3 ft of water, I thought it might so I put a cap on it. Oh and I also put on a little flap directing the air into the heat shield and not directly on the filter cause after 2 months with the funnel tube on, I had a 3 inch black circle on the filter where the air would hit it. That flat would also prevent water from hitting the filter with normal rain but if it's a lot of rain I would just cover it.

Oh and I have a cone filter now by the way

since I was driving in 2-3 ft of water

Dude, 2' would cover the front bumper and 3' would be over the hood, and about the level of the door handle (I just measured)! That level would definitely hydrolock the engine as water poured in. It would be even worse if the LS was lowered!

Now, maybe 6-8 inches makes sense.......

maybe he was on a flat bed tow truck ! :D

It all sound perfect for what Im looking for. This mod, erase catalytics and some race gas sometimes. Im not a nitrous fan. Id rather go with methanol. But thats too much money right now !

Did u post a write up when u did it ?

Do u have more pics ??

Oh yeah, I just measured 3 ft is too high, I would've just floated  . 3 ft seemed lower in my head. Prob 1.5 to 2 ft though. Got almost as high as my headlight, A few insches from the headlight, I thought the cone filter was going to be under water. About 15 min more of rain, cars got stuck and even my friends suv the size of an explorer barely stopped before hitting a car infront cause he kinda floated over the water It was in long beach, I go to long beach state and it was a LOT of water. It was a slanted street and by the time I realized the water was so high before going into it, cars were too close to me to brake and I thought they would hit me so I had to go through. I thought I was going to get stuck there but I made it through and by the time I left school the water had gone down enough to be safe.

No write up sorry. Thats all the pictures I have. What else do you want pics of? The few things I had to do for that to fit was to cut the hole thats already there, the one in the pic, a little bigger. Also had to hammer/bend a little end piece of the frame to the side to let it sit up vertically. I cut 2 tabs on the bumper that extended too far out and hit the box. I just cut off the excess of the tab, it still holds the bumper in place.

Ok, in my mind was to cut off the plastic piping that brings air into the box, and put like u did some piping all the way down, and facing forward behind the lower grill.
That way I would keep my square filter which I spend 50 bucks on less than 5k miles ago.
Now, instead of an open pipe behind the lower grill, I want half a box like u did. That should drive way more air into the pipe than just the open pipe.

What I dont get, is how, or where did u put a cone filter?? where the half box is at on the pic behind the lower grill?? Or inside the air box??

The box you see is the lower grill, th one that i connected all the pipes to is the stock air box.I didn't have to cut anything to get the box off from the rest of the stock set up.I have a KNN typhoon air intake. and the pipe is right under it.

I couldnt find any good after market intake for the V6. So I guess thats the best I can come up for now. Plus its cheap.

You can just make one yourself. I dont remember how v6 intakes are set up but you can just take off or cut off everything before the MAF sensor and stick a cone filter in there or you can make your own straight pipe, cut out a hole for the MAF and stick a cone filter on it, plus the little pipe scoop mod.
