If you have a v8 ls the number 4 coil can cause rf interferance with the computer. As u all kno my Ls was acting like the tranny was bad and the coils were bad and it was idling very weird. But there was no check engine light. It's a rare occurance but it does happen. Just to let u guys know so u don't get stuck like I did taking it to the dealer and getting raped just for a coil cuz no one else could tell that the number 4 coil was firing good but it was causing rf interferance.

right you are - very common issue on Gen2 LSes - the mis-fire on coil4 causes interference on the Throttle-by-wire circuit. This shows up are bad idle, sometimes as a CEL with a TPS, or related Throttle issues - often with the dealer replacing many parts without solving the issue....

So this #4 coil can cause the interference all the time or only when it's going bad?

If it's all the time how do you isolate it?

When it's going bad I got lucky they only replaced that part and nothing else but raped me for diagnostic testing Bill of 350. 100 for the coil and 60 for labor to change the coilso the other 190 was for testing and bs like that. I got a gen 1 so it's something that the ls has an issue with.

Yup. Happened to me too. Coil number 4 started going and etc failsafe came on. Thought it was something else and even changed the throttle body until people on here told me about #4

when it going bad... it's the mis-fire that causes the interferance...
